Where pandas live, Chengdu, Real China life! Hi there! I am Victor Wang. I am from Leshan where the Giant Buddha is and now live at Chengdu where the pandas live. I have been taking tourists around China for a few western tour companies between 2004 and 2011. During this time, I bought my first camera and then I fell in love with taking pictures. The magnificent views, the impressive persons, and especially the memorable moments with my guests gave me a fantastic memery. In order to spend more time with my family, I quited the tour leader job and then worked in Chengdu as a local guide and photographer 2 years ago. I have been most of the places of Chengdu, especially the poor, backward and minority areas, for both groups and pictures. All these built me a passion to Chengdu and I really want to show it to the visitors. On the other hand, after 10 years working with the foreigners, I knew what you want to see, Real China life, but not just the morden cement forests. I will share my working experience in the Panda Base with you when we visit there. I will lead you to meet the real monks or Daoists in the temple, even eat with them. I will recommend you to try the culinary(yummy!) gems off the beaten tracks in the city and you can also learn how to make them. I will introduce you to see the lama's sutra-debating at the biggest tibetan buddhism institute. I will sugguest you the right place and right time to take a best picture. In a word, I will show you the best of Chengdu whilst saving your time and hassle. Overview of your Chengdu tour
Leshan is famous for its 1220-year-old, 71 meter tall Buddha and the delicious local snacks, both spicy and non-spicy. Foodies can easily spend over 3 days trying out different delicious dishes. The only downside to visiting Leshan is that you might gain some weight after! As a local who was born in Leshan, I know the Buddha, the food and the city like the back of my hand. Huanglongxi Ancient Town is over 1700 years old and has been carefully restored to maintain its rustic charm. Ancient cobbled streets, temples, wharves and houses line the curving alleys. Most of the buildings date back to the Qing Dynasty. This is why filmmakers often choose Huanglongxi Old Town to film exterior scenes for period movies. As tourism has developed in recent years, the locals have also contributed their local food to tourists, such as Dancing Noodle, Sesame Pudding, Yellow Catfish, and more.
Your Chengdu tour itinerary
7:30 am-8:30 am Pick you up at your hotel and then drive about 1 hour to Huanglongxi ancient town for visiting. 8:30 am-10:00 am Walk through this lovely town to visit the buildings, temples, bridges and wharves. Take pictures of the various food and try some if you like. 10:00 am-11:30 am Drive to Leshan by the expressway and stop over at Jiajiang service station. You can stretch your leg and walk in the green tea plantation for a while. 11:30 am- 12:30 Food tour in Leshan for lunch. You can try the Cross leg beef, Leshan style Chili Soup, Sweet Skin Duck, Cold skewers, etc. 12:30-16:00 Visit Leshan Giant Buddha park by foot. 16:00-18:00 Drive from Leshan back Chengdu downtown. If you don't like the steps, we can also visit the Buddha by boat and spend more time on the food tour. So, please feel free to contact me for customization.
