Overview of your Beijing tour
The Great Wall, symbolizing China's ancient civilizations, is one of the famous, grand and splendid ancient construction wonders in the world. It is just like a giant dragon starting from Yalu River and crossing high mountains, deserts and grassland to the Pamirs Plateau. The Great Wall of Juyongguan Pass is located at 50 kilometers northwest of downtown Beijing. The mountains flanking the valley have many graceful peaks. It used to be one of the famous Eight Views of Yanjing. The building for the Wall in the ancient times were mainly rock and clay, earth and stone, even wood and pottery tiles were also used. There are Cliff Wall, Willow Wall, Watch tower, Beacon towers, platform. Its a total length 10, 000 kilometers. It not only a strong defensive project but also played a very important military and economic role. Ming tombs located in the norther part of Beijing ,it buried 13 ming emperores and countless imperial concubines .
