Hi there! I've been working as a guide in the Atacama desert since 2009, I used to work as a driverguide for different tour agencies and some hotels in San Pedro de Atacama, so thanks to that, I know every corner of this region and every place to visit, like Geysers, Andean lagoons, Wetlands, Salt flats, landscapes that look like other planets, hypersaline lagoons where you can float effortlessly, and many others. From late 2018, I'm working independently, with my own vehicle; a Toyota 4runner 4WD, up to 4 passengers plus the driver. Now a days, I'm providing privates tours away from the crowds in different timings, fully customized, depending on the special interests the travelers may have, like Bird-watching, Photography, Wildlife, Culture, Geology, Stargazing among others. A guide is not someone that show places and give information, a guide is someone who make the link, between the place, the culture, the nature, and all what the travelers are interested on, to give the most personalized experience and filling their soul, in a real connection. I really love my job and I think I'm living the dream today, because I always thought that one day my personality, charisma, enthusiasm and love for nature, will be my tools for what I do for a living, so here I am, doing what I love, sharing with people coming from all over the world and showing one of the most beautiful and unique places on earth, The Atacama Desert. - SERNATUR (National Service of Tourism) Q Stamp of tourism quality This stamp means reliability, transparency, security, customers satisfaction and service improvements. -LGAI CHILE S.A. Long long ago the salt mountain range wasn't there, while the Andes was growing, it was pressing and pressing the valley, breaking the basin apart and lifting the little salt mountain chain along the Atacama basin. The water and wind had uncovering spectacular landscapes, that I really love, when you come to Atacama and see it by your self, you'll know why. I'm always looking for the best way to show you the place, according with what you're looking for, like best timing to avoid crowds or wait for the right light to take the perfect picture, if you enjoy hiking we'll go to lookouts with astonishing views. Please contact me if you have any question. 40 kms. round trip tour.

Juan was a very knowledgable and engaging guide who gave us an understanding of the geology and showed us the very best vistas
Juan in extremely knowledgeable and we had a really good time. I would highly recommend him.
Juan is the ultimate guide. He is knowledgeable, friendly, and does everything to insure his clients have a fantastic experience. I enjoy a small, family-only tour and this is what Juan provides. We did the geyser tour; the redrock, salt flat/yellow pampa tour; the astronomical tour (with his friend Jose who is very knowledgeable about the Southern sky and astronomy in general), and also the Valle de la Luna tour. In addition Juan provided transportation to the Paranal Observatory as well as to the Calama airport for our departure. You cannot go wrong booking Juan as your guide. Thanks again, Juan for showing us everything.
This was our favorite tour of the whole trip! Juan is really cool and he takes you to all sorts of hard to find places. We started the trip with a really good hike. It was perfect in terms of length and altitude gain. We got amazing views. We then proceeded to stop at several other spots. I actually left my phone in Juan’s car and he came back with no issues. Highly recommend!!
Juan was great and tailored our tour to just what we were looking for. He had 3 trail options for us and was great at making sure we made the most of the limited time we had available. The valley was magical and the sunset was great. We got it all in and were back in time to get dinner before our stargazing that night.
- Starting at morning or after lunch, we'll drive to the Moon Valley entrance. - Driving through the national reserve we'll stop and walk to see the arid scenery, sand dunes, giants rocks formations of crystallized salt and sedimentary layers on the walls. A quick stop on the place that gives the name of Moon Valley in the national reserve, with the huge natural formation called The Amphitheater, The Big Dune, and the Andes mountain range on the background. Keeping moving, we'll go to the end of the reserve to see a natural sculpture, "The Three Maries". - On the way back we'll park the car and do a light hiking, about 10 to 15 minutes to reach the Big Dune lookout to see the entire Moon Valley. From here walking back to the car and driving to an other look out, but this time over the big basin of the Atacama salt flat with a 100 km open view, from here we'll go back to San Pedro de Atacama.
