Hi there! I've been working as a guide in the Atacama desert since 2009, I used to work as a driverguide for different tour agencies and some hotels in San Pedro de Atacama, so thanks to that, I know every corner of this region and every place to visit, like Geysers, Andean lagoons, Wetlands, Salt flats, landscapes that look like other planets, hypersaline lagoons where you can float effortlessly, and many others. From late 2018, I'm working independently, with my own vehicle; a Toyota 4runner 4WD, up to 4 passengers plus the driver. Now a days, I'm providing privates tours away from the crowds in different timings, fully customized, depending on the special interests the travelers may have, like Bird-watching, Photography, Wildlife, Culture, Geology, Stargazing among others. A guide is not someone that show places and give information, a guide is someone who make the link, between the place, the culture, the nature, and all what the travelers are interested on, to give the most personalized experience and filling their soul, in a real connection. Our private tour of Moon Valley with Juan was absolutely fantastic! From the moment he picked us up at Calama Airport, everything was perfectly organized and seamless. Juan was extremely kind, knowledgeable, and attentive, making the experience truly enjoyable. Juan is a fabulous tour guide. He is remarkably knowledgeable about the geology, the wildlife, and the history of the region. Rather than spend the hour driving from Calama to San Pedro with a taxi driver, Juan picked me up and explained the geologic features that we were seeing all along the way. He gave an excellent walking tour of Moon Valley, and gave me lots of useful tips about places to eat and things to do. I give him my highest recommendation.
Juan gave us a wonderful introduction to San Pedro de Atacama after picking us up at the Calama airport. We spent several hours touring and on short hikes in the Val de la Lune, and enjoyed a beautiful sunset. We asked him for a recommendation for a good Chilean restaurant. He not only gave us a great recommendation but waited for us to check in and drive us to the restaurant.
Juan is an A+ guide! My family of 6 really enjoyed traveling with him over 3 days in the San Pedro de Atacama area. He picked us up from the airport and took us that afternoon to Valle de la Luna, giving us a comprehensive tour with some nice hikes to get a sense of the geology and views in this area. He is very friendly and knowledgeable, and his tours are completely customized to each client's interests - all 6 of us thought he was absolutely marvelous!
