Hello, I'm Wendy, and it would be a pleasure for me to accompany you on a tour of the picturesque city of Victoria, on my favourite "Island in the Pacific. " I love everything about the ocean, whether in it, on it, or below it. I have crossed the Atlantic Ocean three times by ship. At an early age, my sense of adventure sparked into reality when my family bid farewell to the charming streets of Victoria and settled on a military base in Germany. Little did I know this would ignite a lifelong passion for globetrotting. Leaving Germany back to the suburbs of Alberta, I finished college and embarked on a career that would make your heartbeat - right into the operating room, then swapped surgical instruments for spokes and skis, teaming up with my husband in the fast-paced world of sporting goods and fitness. Formerly a Canadian Ski Patroller, event planner, gourmet chef, model, resolute volunteer and fundraiser for Rotary International and other NGOs, and a businesswoman who once owned two ski shops, a fashion business, and three fitness centers. Phew! But wait, the call of the ocean was beckoning, and along with my husband and two daughters, set sail on a 40' catamaran living on the Caribbean Sea. . . island hopping to 27+ tropical islands, absorbing a deep appreciation of the multi-cultures and learning to live like the locals, which often involved hilarious adventures. I love all things ocean-related and am practically a human GPS. I am an experienced tour guide and navigated sailing catamaran charters throughout the Caribbean and snorkelled with everything from stingrays, sharks, and lionfish in Belize to sea turtles in Cuba and Kauai. Hiked mountains and kayaked with orcas in beautiful BC waters. Beyond the ocean's horizon, I have guided to international world-class sporting events. Trekked in the jungles of Uganda for endangered mountain gorillas, "Biked and Barged" throughout Belgium and Germany, golfed in Scotland, kissed the Blarney Stone in Ireland, and encountered howler monkeys in the rainforests of Costa Rica. Annual trips to Africa have allowed me to co-ordinate wildlife safaris on the Masa Mara in Kenya, organize and guide a fundraising event for the "Climb for Clean Water" on Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and most importantly to visit my grandchildren in Ghana. I have experience leading groups of all sizes and will personalize any tour to your interest. Fast forward to the new millennium, and I am firmly footed once again on Vancouver Island soaking in the salty air of Victoria. Now, what does a woman with a penchant for oceanic escapades and a flair for adventure do? Well, I become an official tour guide, offering private, exclusive itineraries personalized to your interests. Whether your pursuits may be the top 10 sites in Victoria, the delectable west coast cuisine, maritime and architectural history, totem pole and indigenous art, outdoor adventures, wineries, shopping, or the impressive local history while in the "City of Gardens" I offer informative and engaging tours along with stories to facilitate a unique travel experience for you. The Saanich Peninsula wine, craft brewery, cider, and spirit tours provide the opportunity to enjoy world-class tastings, and what is a journey without sweet indulgence? Being an epicurean extraordinaire for chocolate, I will also show you the best shops in town where you can discover the hidden gems of cocoa goodness. I give personal attention to the tiniest details and am dedicated to ensuring the enjoyment of others. Providing exclusive service to each of my tour guests and ensuring they have a fantastic day gives me great satisfaction. If you should ask why I live on this beautiful island in Canada, well, I am a storyteller, and you are in for a tale that combines humor, adventure, and an undeniable love for the sea! Please contact me if you have a traveller requiring specialized transportation; I will tailor excursions to meet accessibility requirements, including wheelchairs, scooters, and other mobility devices.
