Let’s explore this special place together With a born-and-raised Island girl. About Melanie Born and raised on Vancouver Island, my family roots here go back over 125 years. I’ve always felt a deep connection to this special place I call home—growing up exploring rainforest trails, beachcombing along the coast, and spending time on our lakes and ocean. That love of the land and sea has been passed down through generations, with my family involved in farming, fishing, homebuilding, and the skilled trades—a proud island tradition. Before becoming a guide, I ran our family renovation business and developed a lasting passion for home design and real estate—something I still enjoy today. I’m a true nature lover and also inspired by the vibrant local scene in Victoria—from our incredible food and wine to art, boutiques, and unique local finds. I’ve always had a love for travel and connecting with people from around the world. Since 2015, I’ve been sharing Victoria and Vancouver Island through thoughtfully paced, comfortable, and truly local private tours. I look forward to welcoming you and sharing this special place I call home with you.

This is excellent faster paced tour for those that have a short amount of time and want to visit Butchart Gardens and city highlights. On this private tour, visit our beautiful Butchart Gardens and have time to explore our historic modern city. We'll drive through Victoria's oldest neighbourhoods and see Craigdarroch Castle from outside, stop and take in the view of the Inner Harbour, spectacular Parliament Building and historic Empress Hotel. We will tour through Canada's oldest Chinatown and colourful Fisherman's Wharf. Sit back and enjoy a scenic country side drive to Butchart Gardens. Explore enchanting Butchart Gardens' flora and fauna on this self guided tour. There are many stops along the way to take photos. I can customize your tour to cater to your interests.
I highly recommend Melanie as a tour guide. She was very knowledgeable of the area and was very friendly. She was flexible and accommodating as to where we wanted to go and things we wanted to see. She took us into Butchart Gardens and showed us how to get around. You will be very happy with her as a guide
We enjoyed the quick tour by Melanie. Thank you!
Melanie was the perfect tour guide for my daughter and me. We only had a few hours but she made the most of them. As a born and raised native of Victoria Island, Melanie is exceptionally knowledgeable about local history, culture and nature. I especially appreciated her sensitivity to my mobility issues in choosing where to walk. Highly recommended!
