Let’s explore this special place together With a born-and-raised Island girl. About Melanie Born and raised on Vancouver Island, my family roots here go back over 125 years. I’ve always felt a deep connection to this special place I call home—growing up exploring rainforest trails, beachcombing along the coast, and spending time on our lakes and ocean. That love of the land and sea has been passed down through generations, with my family involved in farming, fishing, homebuilding, and the skilled trades—a proud island tradition. Before becoming a guide, I ran our family renovation business and developed a lasting passion for home design and real estate—something I still enjoy today. I’m a true nature lover and also inspired by the vibrant local scene in Victoria—from our incredible food and wine to art, boutiques, and unique local finds. I’ve always had a love for travel and connecting with people from around the world. Since 2015, I’ve been sharing Victoria and Vancouver Island through thoughtfully paced, comfortable, and truly local private tours. See the best of our beautiful historical city through a locals eye. The colourful Fisherman's Wharf house boat community, the regal Empress Hotel and Parliament Buildings nestled within the inner harbour, eclectic Government Street, the LoJo art-filled shopping district, Canada's oldest Chinatown, see the ducks and peacocks at Beacon Hill Park and the world's tallest freestanding totem pole, and in Victoria's oldest neighbourhood we'll see the Government House and the Craigdarroch Castle - this is your day, stop and take photos along the way! We'll take a scenic waterfront drive views of the snow-capped mountains, city-scape, ocean and countryside. And that concludes our time together, until we meet again.

We had a lovely afternoon with Melanie as she shared with us the most beautiful neighbourhoods and parks in Victoria. We were fortunate to be visiting exactly when the cherry blossoms and rhododendrons were at their peak, and she knew just where to go. We learned so much about the deep and interesting history of Victoria, its founders, and its varied neighbourhoods, and will definitely need to come back to do further exploring. Melanie also gave us great advice on activities we have planned outside of Victoria, which will be so helpful over the next few days. Melanie was great, delivering exactly what we asked for: an introduction and orientation to the city, visiting and experiencing key sites while also pointing out places we might explore on our own with more time. Suggestions for things to see and do as well as places to eat and experience "island life" were plentiful and welcome. And she managed to show us all this without having us feeling rushed or pushed. Highly recommended!
