Welcome to Manaus city tour! o/ Did you know that the name of the city comes from a native extinct tribe called "Manaós"? Manaus has gained worldwide prominence when the exploration of latex (Rubber cycle) enabled large investments such as the construction of luxurious buildings, the implementation of trams, the privilege to be the first city with electricity and telephone, hence the old nickname of Paris of the Tropics. The port of Manaus located in the coast of Rio Negro river was the beginning of the colonization process. Nowadays it continues to be a great identity for our people. Downtown of Manaus is covered by history, development, luxury, mystery, simplicity and complexity of a people that receives everybody with the heart open. We had a fantastic day at MUSA with Anielson. He met us in the cruise ship International terminal where the shuttle from the ship dropped us off. He then took us to the Executive Van which was our private transportation for the day. The van was very comfortable and the air conditioner worked great. The driver also did a great job! We thought the service was wonderful and could not have asked for anything else. So very nice to have a private guide and transportation to help us navigate the city and purchases we wanted to make. We felt very safe at all times.

Anielson is a great ambassador for his city and really did his best to show us all the highlights. We especially enjoyed his personal take on his country and the situation of the peoples who live there and those who manage this worldwide important rainforest which is the Amazon. The lunch spot he took us to was superb - local and delicious! Unfortunately, being a Monday, the wildlife centers were not open and we were unable to see the birds and flora of Manaus, but this was obviously beyond his control.
