Hi, I'm Sophon, people usually call me Tom. I'm a very friendly, passionate, enthusiastic and trustworthy tour guide. I was born in 1988, just ten years after the Khmer Rouge in a small village near the Mekong River in Kampong Cham province, about 270km from Siem Reap. I have three brothers and two sisters and we are living in the same province now.
After finishing high school in 2006, I moved to the capital city, Phnom Penh, but the following year, stressed by the hustle and bustle of the big city, I decided to move again to Sihanoukville, the most beautiful coast in Cambodia and maybe in the entire Asia! Beaches there have shining white sand, super blue cleaning water, and untouched islands.
Few years later, I moved to Siem Reap, the most famous tourist destination in the country, where I attended Engish Classes. After attending my TEFL in 2011, I graduated in English for Education in 2015 and I'm ongoing of Master Degree in Education. Apart of these, I used to be an English Teacher in several NGOs including Life and Hope Association Organization, as well as private schools like Future Bright International School, etc.
Now I'm a well-trained and licensed tour guide by Ministry of Tourism. I have been guiding travelers to Angkor complex and all over Kingdom of Cambodia since 2012.
I love being a Tour Guide so much because I want to share my beautiful culture, arts, amazing rich history, and all beautiful places of Cambodia to the world. Moreover, I want to get to know and learn different cultures, meeting people from all over the world.
I'm looking forward to sharing and providing you with an exciting and interesting trip to the temples of Angkor, and all surrounding areas in Cambodia.
A Recent Review of this guide
Our experience with Tom couldn't be better. We was sharp on time at 5am to pick us up. With a lot of knowledge on history, he could tell us in details everything about the complex. We spent around 3 hours in Angkor Wat and had a little breakfast pause next to the water, which felt good. We took many pictures of us and waited patiently while we wanted to see something else. We were back on our hotel around 1pm super tired (hot weather!) and pleased with the experience!
