Angkor was the capital city of the Khmer Empire. The city and empire from the begining of the 9th to the 15th centuries. The city houses the magnificent Angkor Wat, one of Cambodia's most popular tourist attractions. The word Angkor is derived from the Sanskrit nagara, meaning "city". Chamrong was a definite five star tour guide. He took us to several temples at Angkor Wat, Phnom Kulen mountain and Tonle Sap to see the floating villages. It was educational and informative and his English was very good. He shared lots about his life and Cambodian life in general and was most accommodating for stops. We really enjoyed this short period of time we spent there and Chamrong made it very enjoyable. Hire hin
I enjoyed my tour with Chamrong of the Siem Reap area and the various (and many) temple complexes. He is personable and open to any question you may have. The tour is truly a full day and will involve walking over uneven ground (and sometimes a bit of scrambling over the stones). I highly recommend the tour with Chamrong for anyone visiting the area. I also took his tour of Koh Ker.
We had a great day with Chamrong. He was prompt and prepared. We learned so much about the Angkor Wat complex and the people who built it and lived there.
Couldn't recommend more highly. Chamrong was a great source of local knowledge and delivered his insights in a way that felt perfectly pitched. We had laugh out loud moments, moments of sobriety etc. Chamrong is also an excellent driver - something to be considered when travelling in the area. A huge thanks from all of us!
Chamrong was an excellent tour guide. He provided lots of information about the sites we visited as well as arranged our day to suite our specific requests. He even picked us up at the airport the night before our tour for only the cost of gas. We truly enjoyed our day with Chamrong and highly recommend him for a day in Siem Reap!
Chamrong was an excellent guide. His historical insight, on a wide range of topics, was engaging and thoughtful. He added a stop on my list to the itinerary, which was much appreciated. He made the complicated history and detail of the sights much more accessible. He gratefully offered chilled water on a humid day, very welcome after climbing towers and taking long walks. He got through traffic steadily and politely. Highly recommend.
A full day tour to Angkor. Angkor Wat is the world's largest sacred building and an architectural masterpiece. Built in the 12th century, represents Khmer civilization at its peak. You'll also visit the southern gate of Angkor Thom, which is flanked by a row of 54 stone figures on each side (gods to the left and demons to the right). At the Bayon temple (12th century), you'll admire its beautifully crafted central towers covered with over 200 faces, and then explore the Terrace of the Leper King and the Terrace of the Elephant. Lunch break and rest. After lunch you will explore Ta Prohm (tomb raider ) over grown by jungle.
