At just 5 to 20 meters above sea level, Hanoi is shaped by the Red River, which flows toward the Gulf of Tonkin about 90 kilometers away. Once called the “Paris of the East,” it is now honored as the “City for Peace,” reflecting its enduring spirit. With roots dating back to the Bronze Age, Hanoi is one of the cradles of Vietnamese civilization. In 1010 AD, King Ly Thai To made it the capital, naming it Thang Long, or “Soaring Dragon.” In 1831, King Minh Mang renamed it Hanoi, meaning “city within the rivers.” Today, after more than a thousand years, Hanoi remains the cultural and historical heart of Vietnam, rich in tradition yet alive with modern energy.
What a fantastic afternoon and evening with Anh. He customized a tour for us perfectly. A little history, a little culture and a little food. The highlights for us were the walking tour of the Hanoi streets at night and the food. Hanoi at night is a crazy, electric and fascinating place. The sights and sounds still have us talking. Anh was a knowledgeable and interesting guide.
Tony was great! We would have never been able to navigate Ho Chi Minh city or discover all of these wonderful places on our own. We had a really good time - thanks again Tony!

We enjoyed our tour with Anh. HIs English skills are very good, so we had no problem understanding him. He provided good information, relative to what we were seeing. It was a long day with travel time from HaLong Bay to Hanoi being almost 4 hours each way as we used the local roads (which were of good quality) through the towns and not the express way. This provided an opportunity to see life in the area. The trip back at the end was a bit tedious. Fortunately, the van was very comfortable
Thien "Anh" Cao - 3/7/2017 was our guide in Hanoi for 2 days. Hanoi is a very difficult city to get to and get around in. Anh & our driver Mr. Hero were terrific in being efficient & saving us time while we able to see more sites than possible. Anh was very informative & interesting & kind. We all (3 couples) would strongly recommend using his services for any visit to the exciting city of Hanoi. With plenty of room in the van and also ask for the Vietnam coffee - 'mmm good.
