Duong Lam ancient Village has been known as a museum of surviving laterite (red clay formed from weathered basalt found in northern Vietnam) with ancient houses aged up to 400 years old. Visiting Duong Lam is a journey to trace back the origin of Vietnam's culture and its traditions. It is also the great chance to experience unique architecture of ancient houses while wander along its narrow alleys, visit temples of the two kings born there, and chat with locals in their ancient houses.
At 8:00 AM, I will pick you up and we'll depart Hanoi for a 1.5-hour drive northwest to Duong Lam Ancient Village. This remarkable village is celebrated for its unique layout, time-honored architectural designs, and commitment to traditional farming techniques, offering a true glimpse into Vietnam's past. You'll enjoy a special Vietnamese lunch in an ancient house. Depending on the season, you might even get to join locals in producing regional specialties like soft green-lentil cake or rice cake filled with brown onion. Later, we'll return towards Hanoi to visit Thay Pagoda, home to a wonderful collection of Arhat statues, showcasing exquisite 17th-century Vietnamese sculpture art. Your memorable day concludes as you arrive back at your hotel around 5:00 PM.
