Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam and the second largest city in the country. It has been the capital of Vietnam for almost a thousand years and is considered one of the main cultural centers of the country. Throughout the years, many Vietnamese dynasties have left their imprint on the city, making it a place of great cultural and historic significance. Despite some relics being destroyed through wars and time, Hanoi still has many interesting cultural monuments for visitors and residents to enjoy. If you're looking to explore the culture, history and local life of Hanoi, a full day of sightseeing is a great option. As someone who was born in Hanoi and has witnessed many changes in the city since the opening of the economy, I would love to share my experiences and memories of my beloved city with you. And, of course, we can't forget about the local food - I can guide you to some of the best spots to try authentic Hanoi cuisine.
At 9 am, the tour guide will pick you up from your hotel to visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Next door is Ho Chi Minh's House on Stilts, where he used to live. Lying on one side of the Mausoleum is the One Pillar Pagoda. Built by King Ly Thai To in 1049, the structure has become an important symbol for the people of Hanoi. At 10:30 am, you will continue your tour by visiting Tran Quoc Pagoda, the oldest pagoda in the city. Then, you will walk to Quan Thanh Temple, one of the capital's Four Sacred Temple. At 11:30 am, you will visit Hoa Lo Prison, also known as Hanoi Hilton, where American pilots were kept as POWs. At 1:30 pm, you will visit the Ethnology Museum, which focuses on the 54 officially recognized ethnic groups in Vietnam. You can choose any museum you like to visit. At 3:30 pm, you will be transferred to the Old Quarters to experience the daily life of local people. It's a great place to explore with plenty of photo opportunities. You can take a coffee break at the end of the tour as you wish.
