Ask her for something unusual and she'll deliver We gave Sammy an odd request: pick us up at 3:30 AM, take us to Long Bien wholesale market at 4, then Quang Ba flower market. We wanted to see how the markets actually work (the bargaining, the porters, how the small shop owners buy their stock) and specifically told her we didn't want a photography or food tour. She understood right away, quoted a fair price, and was on time to the minute. The morning was brilliant. She noticed what we found interesting and changed the plan as we went, stopped to translate conversations with vendors and porters, and never rushed us. Afterwards she took us for a walk on Long Bien bridge, then found us proper arabica coffee because we'd mentioned we didn't want the usual condensed milk kind, plus a really good noodle breakfast. My advice: be very clear about what you want. The clearer you are, the better she gets. One of the best organized and most adaptable guides we've had anywhere.

My wife and I had an excellent walking tour of Hanoi with guide Sammy. We toured the Old Quarter, had 2 coffee tastings, took a ride to the French Quarter to experience Train Street, and finished up at a local food stop for lunch dishes. We enjoyed it all, despite rain during our tour. Sammy met us on time at our hotel, she was very knowledgeable regarding Vietnamese history and culture, and she is super-likeable. I would highly recommend this tour and guide in Hanoi.

Sammy was an excellent guide! She knows a tremendous amount of interesting history and took us to many spots we wouldn’t have found on our own. She thoughtfully adapted the tour for us unprompted, since we mentioned that we’d tried eaten bun cha the day before, so instead she took us to a great spot for our favorite dish, banh xeo! Her English is excellent and she did a great pace for our family of four adults (ages 42-74) who love to walk. Our best tour in Vietnam!
