Hi! My name is Kim, and I've been a hiking guide in this area for 30 years, probably longer than you've been alive! I think being a hiking guide is the best job in the world: the beauty of nature, super interesting people, the sun, the clouds, the scenery, and everything else that makes the Great Outdoors great. I especially love Zion National Park and I would love to show it to you, since you and I are on a "middle-name" basis. Of course, you can't be a guide for 30 years without getting to know a thing or two about this area. I've studied the geology, biology, and history of this area extensively, and I want to share it with you, along with the 300 jokes that I've memorized. I've hiked and explored Zion at least a gazillion times, and possibly 1. 5 gazillion, so I think I know the area fairly well. I've come as a guide for 2 different local destination spas, and Road Scholar (a bus/hiking tour company mostly for seniors) where I worked as the geology instructor and trail guide. Being out on the trail is what I live for and I hope you give me a chance to share all of that with you! I have all the necessary permits, insurances, licenses, etc. necessary, as well as first aid and CPR certification All guiding services are restricted to certain trails, though these happen to be the most popular trails in the park.

Without doubt The Narrows Trail is the "Coolest" hike in Zion, literally and figuratively. With proper equipment it is warm, dry and comfortable during cold weather, and cool and shady when it is hot. The beauty is even greater because of the incredibly lofty cliffs surrounding you every step of the way. The trail is out and back, and includes one mile on a dry trail before we enter the river, then the "wet" portion. At a certain point/time we will turn around and repeat the process but in reverse. Both the dry and wet portions of this hike are beautiful in an other-worldly way. Towering thousand foot cliffs, beautiful emerald green water, and refreshingly cool when it is hot. You have never seen anything like the Narrows - the views are drop-dead-gorgeous! Guests are responsible for Park entry fees and rentals. This tour starts at 7:00 AM. Ideal for groups!
We will meet at the Zion Visitors Center at 7:00 am. At that time we will board the shuttle and travel up canyon. The first portion of our path will be dry, on the banks of the Virgin River on the Riverside Trail. After hiking one mile in, we enter the waters of the famous Narrows Trail, for up to two miles or two hours, whichever comes first. Then we retrace our steps back to the shuttle stop and then to the visitors center. Note: River gear is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED during the cold months of the year, November through March. The gear consists of waders that extend to the armpits, neoprene socks, special river boots, and a walking stick. River gear can be rented in Springdale, Utah. Also Note: This hike is restricted to days where the river flow rate is less than 150 cubic feet per second (cfs). High flow days occur after rainstorms (rare), and during the winter runoff, which is around March through early June.

We will take the Park Shuttle to and from our destination so no private-vehicle transport will be necessary. However, the shuttles don't operate during the winter months so in that case we will meet at the Visitors Center and then ride up together to the trailhead in my van
1 Zion Park Boulevard, Springdale, Utah, 84767, United States
We will meet at the open area in front of the Zion Visitor Center, located just within the boundaries of the park. Here are the coordinates to that location: 37.20012478775639, -112.98731227794806 Simply cut and paste those coordinates into a GPS app. I will be wearing a garishly-bright-yellow windbreaker for easy identification. Guests will be responsible for their own entry fee.
