Hi! My name is Kim, and I've been a hiking guide in this area for 30 years, probably longer than you've been alive! I think being a hiking guide is the best job in the world: the beauty of nature, super interesting people, the sun, the clouds, the scenery, and everything else that makes the Great Outdoors great. I especially love Zion National Park and I would love to show it to you, since you and I are on a "middle-name" basis. Of course, you can't be a guide for 30 years without getting to know a thing or two about this area. I've studied the geology, biology, and history of this area extensively, and I want to share it with you, along with the 300 jokes that I've memorized. I've hiked and explored Zion at least a gazillion times, and possibly 1. 5 gazillion, so I think I know the area fairly well. I've come as a guide for 2 different local destination spas, and Road Scholar (a bus/hiking tour company mostly for seniors) where I worked as the geology instructor and trail guide. Being out on the trail is what I live for and I hope you give me a chance to share all of that with you! I have all the necessary permits, insurances, licenses, etc. necessary, as well as first aid and CPR certification All guiding services are restricted to certain trails, though these happen to be the most popular trails in the park.

Notice: For the foreseeable future we will not be able to serve groups larger than 6 people. Our big van died. Sorry. Zion National Park should be on everyone's bucket list! The heat of the summer can be a little off-putting, but the soaring cliffs, the amazing colors against a brilliant blue sky, it is nature at its best! This tour is a combination of our hiking and hike/drive tours. We'll be hiking some trails in the morning and then driving to some amazing viewpoints in the afternoon. The trails are what Zion is known for, stunning beauty, and you will see two of the best of the best! The morning can be mild, moderate or strenuous, whatever you decide. There will be time for lunch (on your own), then we will embark in our private van to see the amazing sights in areas of Zion that very few visitors know about. The towering peaks, the majestic forests, the serene and beautiful Virgin River, not to mention the magnificent multi-colored cliffs will remain in your favorite memories for life!
We will begin the tour at 7:00 AM by meeting at the Visitors' Center. Guests are responsible for their own entry fees. 1) We will board the Park Shuttle (or drive, if the shuttles aren't running - December through Februaryish) and after a short ride we will arrive at our first trail, a warm-up, mild trail with incredible views. 2) After that you can choose between a mild, moderate or a strenuous trail, any of which will elevate your pulse and your spirit! After this hike, we stop at the Lodge for lunch (on your own). 3) In the early afternoon, we will shuttle back to the Visitors' Center and take our private transport to the East Side of Zion where visitor counts are usually 90% less than the main canyon. 4) Following the East Side we will drive to the Middle Section where, honestly, I rarely ever see anyone. But the views of the surrounding mountains are incredible! 5) We will finish off with the West Side and the most spectacular views in Zion (in my humble opinion)!
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
During the tour I provide transportation for you and your group in my clean and air-conditioned Honda Odyssey mini-van.
Springdale, Utah, United States
We will meet in front of the Zion Visitor Center, located just within the boundaries of the park. The coordinates of the location are: 37.20012478775639, -112.98731227794806 Simply cut and paste those coordinates into a GPS app. I will be waiting there in a garishly bright yellow windbreaker for easy identification. Guests will be responsible for their own entry fee.
