Hi everyone. I am a retired professor and teacher. I taught in middle and high schools, colleges, and universities. I began teaching history and social science classes in August 1981 and continued to December 2015. This led to a comfortable segue into conducting tours by 2000 to share with tourists the information that I had been teaching. I have three collegiate degrees and multiple teaching certificates. I will inundate you with information about the history, government, politics, diversity, growth, economy, businesses, demography, climate, geography, topography, sociology, arts and architecture, taxation, transit, and more of the area and Texas. I will share stories with you about famous and infamous Texans; some are true, some are folklore. I have a dry sense of humor. My intent is to entertain and educate you. I enjoy sharing knowledge with you so that you have a good time and will want to return to or stay longer in our fair city. 1. Included in AAA Tour Books since 2011. I can take up to nine people with their luggage in our full-size van. I pick-up and drop-off people at cruise terminals. I take tourists to museums, and let them tour exhibits at their own pace, telling them what time we need to meet again at the van.

This was the site of the most important battle in Texas history. While more people have heard of The Alamo thanks to John Wayne's 1960 movie of the same name and visited there because of its convenience in downtown San Antonio, the Mexicans slaughtered all of the defenders and the Texicans or Texians gained nothing on March 6, 1836. After another Mexican massacre of the Texians at Goliad on March 20, 1836, it was at San Jacinto where the Texians rallied and won independence on April 21, 1836. We will also follow the Houston Ship Channel, starting with its original location of the Port of Houston in downtown Houston in 1836. We will drive by several refineries, petrochemical industries, and cargo container docks. The San Jacinto Monument is CLOSED on Monday and Tuesday. This tour is available on Sunday and Wednesday through Saturday.

Keith is a very knowledgeable and patient tour guide who showed us so much of Houston's hidden treasures. We learned a tremendous amount about the Battle of San Jacinto, a 20 minute battle that launched Texas as a bastion of courage and individual freedom.
10:00 - 10:15 AM - Introductions and load the van. 10:15 - 10:20 AM - Drive to the site of Houston's founding. 10:20 - 10:40 AM - Walk around Allen's Landing. 10:40 - 11:00 AM - Drive on the Sidney Sherman Bridge over the Houston Ship Channel. See refineries and petrochemical plants. 11:00 - 11:20 AM - Drive through Crown Hill Cemetery. 11:20 - 11:25 AM - Drive to the Santa Anna Capture Site in Pasadena. 11:25 - 11:40 AM - Walk around the Capture Site and see its monument by the Houston Ship Channel. 11:45 AM - 12:15 PM - Drive through the Washburn Tunnel under the Houston Ship Channel, and onto the Lynchburg Ferry to ride on the Houston Ship Channel to the San Jacinto Monument in La Porte. 12:15 - 1:45 PM - Tour the San Jacinto Monument. 1:45 - 1:50 PM - Drive to the Monument Inn for lunch. 1:50 - 3:00 PM - Lunch. 3:00 - 3:30 PM - Drive to Deer Park. See the log cabin replica where the Two Treaties of Velasco were drafted. 3:30 - 4:00 PM - Drive back to Houston on SH 225.
