Aloha! I'm Carlos, Big-Island-based agroforestry practitioner and local guide with over 10 years of experience working across Hawai'i farms, orchards, rainforests, and volcanic landscapes. As a native of the tropics and a farmer, Hawai'i has shaped the way I see the world. For the past decade I've worked across Hawai'i in agriculture, agroforestry, orchard systems, and community based land stewardship, developing a deep relationship with the landscapes, plants, weather patterns, backroads, and stories that make the Big Island unlike anywhere else on Earth. My tours are designed like a journey through the island from a grounded perspective- blending volcanoes, ecology, agriculture, culture, food systems, hidden viewpoints, native and Polynesian-introduced plants, the everyday rhythms of life and the evolving relationship between people and land here in Hawai'i. Lava fields and waterfalls to tropical food forests and native plants, from the perspective of a local driving backroads on a truck with a big cooler full of the abundance of the land. Whether we're walking through misty rainforest, exploring volcanic terrain, tasting tropical fruit, learning about Hawaiian agroforestry traditions, or stopping at places most visitors drive past without noticing, my goal is to help travelers experience Hawai'i island in a deeper and more connected way nurturing a feeling of relaxation and flexibility.

**THIS TOUR IS DESIGNED FOR WHEN THE VOLCANO IS ACTIVE** At the heart of the island, where the Earth's breath forges life from fire and molten rock, we launch straight into an exhilarating journey- driving directly into Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, ready to witness the primal forces shaping our planet. Witness the creation of New Earth as the active Volcano erupts.
We kick off with a beverage at a good spot in Hilo, then drive into Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. Once we arrive at the Park, we will directly head to the Kīlauea Caldera to view the current lava flow. After watching the lava flow, we will head back to Hilo.

I recommend meeting up or stopping at The Booch Bar in Hilo before heading to see the volcano but meeting location is totally flexible!
