Anita was absolutely wonderful, and the tour was among the best we've ever had. We learned a tremendous amount about the area and fell in love with it. Having Anita as our guide was like being shown around by an old friend.

Hello, My name is Anita and I am a native Shetlander who is proud and enthusiastic to show off my homeland. I was born and brought up in Shetland and my family lives and works here. Prior to becoming a Tourist Guide, I worked in schools doing Learning Support; as a Carer for the elderly; as an Operations Supervisor in the seafood industry and as Senior Passenger Services Officer at the airport. I decided to become a full-time Tourist Guide for two main reasons: Firstly, I love to show off Shetland's scenery & nature, and I enjoy sharing my knowledge of the local history, culture, modern life & work in Shetland. Secondly, I find it very interesting to meet new people from all over the world and hear about their life at home! My local knowledge means you will be able to enjoy a privately curated tour that hopefully avoids all the crowds. I am proud to have 5 star reviews on Google and other sites. I have a friendly, relaxed approach and provide a quality service that puts your needs firmly at the centre, to ensure making the best of your time in Shetland. All my tours are fully customizable and I will communicate well with you beforehand to curate your own special adventure. When I'm not out with my guests exploring these beautiful islands, I like to spend time with the family (including babysitting and dogsitting!), knit traditional Fair Isle, cook, sew and travel. I always enjoy learning new things and enjoy refreshing & updating my CPD over the winter months via the Shetland Heritage Association and other providers. I hope you decide to join me for a trip to discover the spirit of Shetland, whether it is for part of a day, a full day or a few days. I look forward to sharing all that my beautiful island home has to offer, and I am confident you will leave with memories that will last a lifetime. A circular tour through the Shetland mainland takes us to the bay of Tresta to visit the home of mother and daughter team Marion and Amanda, enthusiastic Sheepdog, Pony and Sheep breeders. My old school friend Marion gives the warmest welcome in Shetland! This is the all time favourite tour for my guests and myself too. Learn everything about our native breeds. Be prepared to see Shetland Pony foals! Enjoy spending time (45 mins) with the animals before continuing west to 'The Original Cake Fridge' honesty box for refreshments, situated between the villages of Aith and Voe. If you want to experience remote wilderness then this road is unrivalled in Shetland. Just remember, the sheep have the right of way on this road that the locals refer to as 'The Alps'! This tour stops off at 3 of our most iconic viewpoints along the way and passes the site of the Viking parliament. If you love great scenery, animals, or you are a wool enthusiast, then you will love this friendly tour!

We had an amazing time! Anita was great guide and taught us a lot about the Shetland Islands. We loved the visit to the farm to see the ponies, sheep and dogs. I would highly recommend booking a tour with Anita!!
Anita is incredible! She responded quickly to any questions as we were booking and was so accommodating. The tour itself was absolutely fantastic. She is a true local and knows everything about what to do and see. She showed us so many things about the islands and the town. We were thrilled to have time with her and can’t imagine coming to Lerwick and not looking her up. Lerwick is just so special you can’t put it into words. We were so lucky to visit a Shetland farm and talk with Marion who runs it with her family. The genuine care, compassion and love for their animals and their farm leaves you wanting to move in. We felt honored to have such a special private visit with their award winning ponies, uniquely beautiful breed sheep and their wonderful Shetland dogs. We left the tour with our hearts full of the wonder of Lerwick and the Shetland islands. Anita is the best!
Anita was great. She took us to all the places we wanted and provided plenty of time in each. She was very easy to understand even for a Texan. Friendly and knowledgeable.
Amazing!! Anita took us on a tour of the mainland. The views were exceptional and we stopped at Breckenlea Shetland Pony Stud Farm where we got to see award winning Shetland ponies and one young guy who was only a week old. The farm also had sheep with many lambs which we held and seven Shellie dogs we got to play with. Another stop at Cake Fridge was a treat. It’s an honor system roadside stand of local bakery items, delish, with a group of Pygmy goats across the street. A magical day.
Great tour and highly recommended. Anita is a fantastic guide, and the visit to the croft to see and hold the Shetland sheep, sheepdogs, and ponies was wonderful!
·After pickup, we go on a scenic drive of central and west Shetland, where you'll have ample opportunities to take photographs at scenic overlooks. ·We then begin heading out of Lerwick's south road, looking out for our first Shetland ponies en route to a viewpoint overlooking Scalloway on the west side of the mainland. Here we could look over our ancient capital, where history meets modern life with the castle from 1599 alongside a busy modern harbour. ·From here we drive through the Tingwall valley continuing our journey west through the villages of Whiteness and Weisdale, stopping at a hilltop viewpoint in each place. ·Just over the hill from Weisdale we reach Breckenlea Stud, home to the locally bred native animals, where our knowledgeable hosts will share information and answer any questions you have. ·Then we head to Cake Fridge for some sweet treats and enjoy the beautiful hilly landscape along the way before arriving back in town via the north road. Tour can be customized/extended on request.
