A natural storyteller with an infectious enthusiasm for the outdoors, I am just as likely to be found running Shetland’s hills, caravanning along its winding roads or plunging into its waters for a bracing swim – rain or shine. I love Fair Isle knitting although I would say my skills in this craft are modest to say the least! I was born and raised in Shetland and I will share my deep rooted love for these islands on every tour I lead. After a 20-year career in economic development and 15 years as a teacher, I retrained as a professional guide, gaining my Green Badge certification in 2023. Now, I am endlessly enthusiastic about sharing my home with visitors by weaving together stories of geology, archaeology, the local economy, folklore, festivals, knitting and everything in between. I also holds a current Rescue Emergency Care Outdoor First Aid certificate – although I am more likely to hand you a cup of tea and a biscuit than a bandage! On my tours, you don’t just see Shetland – you feel its pulse. Whether you’re chasing windswept views, hidden history or a cheeky swim in one of Shetland’s many beautiful beaches, voes and ‘geos’, I'll make sure your time in Shetland is unforgettable.

Overview of your Lerwick tour
Thank you for choosing to come to Shetland, my home, my birthplace, the place where I have spent my entire life and raised my children and I cannot begin to describe how proud I am to share it with you. We will discover......unique crofting landscapes, drystone walls, Shetland sheep, 5000 years of history in one unique site at Jarlshof, iron age brochs (nobody really knows why they were built), a Stevenson built lighthouse at Sumburgh Head, the oldest in Shetland, spectacular cliff scenery, THOUSANDS of seabirds and hopefully (from April to July) a comical puffin or two, pristine beaches where treasures were found (and where cheeky wild swims are the order of the day - fancy joining me?) We will look for sunbathing seals and maybe, just maybe, patrolling orca and maybe, just maybe, a Shetland pony or two. We will stop a while in the beautiful village of Hoswick for coffee, browse stunning Shetland knitwear and jewellery and maybe, just maybe....eat some cake (home baked of course). Join me!
