Heading to the north of mainland Shetland, this tour will take in some of the island's most spectacular coastline. We will visit Eshaness, an area home to a volcanic landscape dating back 400 million years with high cliffs, sea stacks, caves, bore holes and holms teeming with seabirds. This tour is very special to me as my Father was born here and this is where I spent many days with my Grandparents coastal walking and Whale Watching. The remoteness and Geology takes your breath away. After this we'll head back to Shetland's main town of Lerwick, where we will spend a short time visiting the picturesque area of south Commercial street and the "Lodberries". These buildings date back to the 17th century and have their foundations built in the sea. Short tour consists of easy walking over short distances with an optional 10 minute cliff walk.
- Leaving Lewick we will drive for 45 mins to visit "Mavis Grind" where the two Oceans are only a stones throw apart for a photostop. - We will continue North another 30 minutes passing Villages and you will notice the scenery turning more and more Volcanic stopping at another photostop to view the Sea Stacks towering over the water. - We will then drive another 15 mins to the striking Sea Cliffs the very North and West of the Island for an optional 15 minute Cliff top walk which is teeming with Seabirds. - Doubling back to an "Old Haa" dating back to the 17th Century to learn of our past in Shetland where you can enjoy a visit for approx 30 mins. - Heading over (ten mins away)to the Breiwick Cafe which has the most stunning views of Cliffs , sea stacks , red beaches and more where you will enjoy 30 minutes sampling some traditional baking. - Driving 50 mins back into Lerwick for a tour of the most famous stops including the"Lodberries" Dropping you at your ship or preferred location.
