Hello and welcome to the South East of England and London, as a guide in this area I have two professional qualifications (known as the Blue Badge) awarded by the Institute of Tourist Guides. I’m based in the beautiful medieval city of Canterbury where I'm also a fully qualified Canterbury Cathedral guide and Canterbury City guide. I would be delighted to develop a private, bespoke tour just for you and your party which can be geared to your particular interests. It could also include an exploration of the surrounding country areas and, perhaps taking in local heritage sites such as the White Cliffs of Dover, its stunning castles, such as Leeds, Dover or Walmer Castles or to beautiful gardens including Sissinghurst or Great Dixter. As a London guide I enjoy bringing to life the stories of this fascinating city. It is a huge treasure trove waiting for you to explore. It could be the fabulous wealth of royal London history, its major sites, art and architecture or some of its quirky streets. Included in my tours are the characters associated with its past:, famous, infamous as well as the everyday folk who have contributed to its multi-layered history. Since I have lived in the South East of England for much of my life, I know its nooks and crannies well; the villages, country roads, good places to stop off for refreshments such as country inns or tea rooms. This area can be enjoyed in so many different ways, walking tours, taxi tours. I can meet you at a train station, Dover Cruise Terminal, your hotel. The choice and the opportunities to enjoy it are many and varied. Combining the best of the South East with our great metropolis of London, I am qualified to guide you around the major sites, such as Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London and the National Gallery. I am fascinated with our capital's history, both in its buildings as well as the many characters from all walks of life who have contributed to its development. Rather like its great river, Old Father Thames, London never stops moving and evolving making it always an exciting place to visit. Blue Badge Guide - South East England Blue Badge Guide - London Green Badge Guide - Canterbury Canterbury Cathedral Guide Member - Institute of Tourist Guides, Guild of Guides, South East England Tourist Guides Association (and previous Chairperson). B.A. (Hons.) English Literature, B.A. (Hons) Fine Art. Post Graduate Certificate in Education. I am not a driver guide but I can arrange transportation upon request.

As a resident of Canterbury for over20 years, it is a place close to my heart and one that I never tire of. I first visited here as a child and remember being taken into the nave of the cathedral, standing there in awe of its magnificent structure. Since then I have travelled, studied and settled here. Now a Blue Badge Tour Guide and Cathedral guide (I have completed the Cathedral's training course and therefore one of their own guides), it would be my great pleasure to extend to you my enthusiasm for this city. If ever a place was steeped in history, it's Canterbury! At its heart is the Cathedral. Part of a World Heritage Site, it goes back to 597AD when it was the first cathedral to be built here. It is now the mother church of the Anglican community across the world. From the spiritual to the secular. We'll follow in the footsteps of pilgrims, including those of The Canterbury Tales. You'll hear about the characters, the sights, the sounds and humour as we stroll the medieval streets.

We felt like we hit the jackpot with our tour guide Liz. She designed a custom tour for us that addressed all of our interests in a 5 hour long walking tour of Historic Canterbury. Liz is a great historian and storyteller, she made Canterbury come to life for us. We felt so fortunate to be guided by her in the Cathedral and saw many places that would most likely not have been included in a larger group tour. . Thank you Liz and Tours By Locals for such an wonderful and informative day!
Liz was excellent! Very knowledgeable and informative. Canterbury and the cathedral were lovely.
Liz is a fantastic guide, and my wife and I very much enjoyed our tour with her. She met us at the train station, and from there we walked into the city. The Canterbury Cathedral is just incredible, and we were lucky enough to be there when a Canadian choir put on a performance. Afterwards, we saw the "Wonky House," as well as other sights and at the end she recommended a local pub for lunch. We highly recommend Liz for a tour of Canterbury. It made for a great day trip out of London.
We booked this tour just 24 h before arriving in Canterbury. Everything went smoothly and the guide was wonderful. An absolute pleasure.
Liz was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Enjoyed our time with her greatly.
