The city of Canterbury and its Cathedral, the Mother Church of the Anglican Communion, is both a holy place and part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Cathedral's history starts in 597AD and is most famous for the murder of its Archbishop Thomas Becket in 1170. Ever since, the Cathedral has attracted thousands of pilgrims, as told famously in Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. Today you can follow those pilgrims and soak up the atmosphere as you walk through the city's streets which still retain their medieval character. I am qualified to provide specialist in-depth guided tours within the cathedral. You may wish to time your day to take in the Evensong service (open to those of all faiths and none) at the Cathedral to gaze at the wondrous architecture whilst listening to some of the best choral music in the world.
We had a great afternoon in Canterbury with Dawn. She is knowledgeable, interesting and very nice to be with. Besides showing us the sites and giving us the history of Canterbury, she was helpful with logistics from London, offered restaurant suggestions and recommended that we end with Evensong in the cathedral, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We highly recommend Dawn!

Dawn fulfilled the challenge of guiding an 80 year old pair of well traveled grandparents and a 20 year old grandson new to European travel. She excelled in the choices of things to do. She was incredibly interesting and fun. Her fascinating reportoire was thought provocking and lively. The discussions appealed to all three of us. She is a lovely and most pleasant person. And she was one of the best trained guides we have ever used. Needless to say, book early since she is very popular. The Best!!
I had a fantastic tour today with Dawn. She took me from pre-Roman, Roman, Anglo Saxon to Christian Britain all in a few hours and all told with excellent stories. The Cathedral is amazing and the town full of historic buildings. Dawn knew it all! I highly recommend her.
Dawn is a very friendly and knowledgeable lady who took us on a short 2 hour walking tour through Canterbury, telling us the stories of the city's history and answering all our questions. Very pleasent experience, so highly recommended.
