I grew up in Kent, and am very proud of my home county, known as the Garden of England, due to its agriculture and farming, especially fruit. I am a Green Badge Guide for the City of Canterbury and a Blue Badge Guide for South East England (Kent, Sussex and Surrey). This qualification is accredited by the Institute of Tourist Guiding, of which I am a member, and is the highest professional tourist guiding qualification in the UK. I live in a village between Canterbury and Faversham, and am able to travel across the region and into London as required. I do many tours in Kent, but can cover Sussex and Surrey if needed. I regularly guide excursions from cruise ships at Dover, and can arrange private transport as needed. There is so much to explore in this area - from countryside to coast, historic cities, bustling market towns and quaint villages. The proximity of South East England to mainland Europe means it has played a key role in the country's history, having been the point of arrival for centuries. I originally trained as a nurse in London, and lived and worked there for several years. I spent 35 years working in the NHS and charity sector. I have always been interested in history, literature and travelling, and combining these passions to share this beautiful part of the country is now my ideal job, since 2018. I look forward to welcoming you!

Visit two of the most historic places in the UK - the city of Canterbury, home of England's first Cathedral, and site of many important events in history over the centuries, and Sandwich, the best preserved medieval town in England. Canterbury has been at the forefront of some key events, and there is history wherever you look among the cobbled streets. Hear about the Roman, Viking, Anglo-Saxon and Tudor history in this ancient city, the birthplace of the Anglican Church, and famous pilgrim destination after a shocking medieval murder in the Cathedral. Then visit Sandwich, once a thriving medieval port, and one of England's most picturesque towns. We will walk through quaint cobbled streets, lined with timber-framed houses. Medieval Sandwich was a thriving port, prospering with maritime trade and prestigious visitors including royalty.
- We will explore the historic city centre of Canterbury on foot, visiting the quaint streets full of medieval buildings, and the first Cathedral in England. There are many beautiful buildings and lots of opportunities for photos. The walking tour can be adapted for specific requirements, as this is a compact city, packed full of historic sights. - We will see the river and picturesque riverside gardens, parts of the city wall, pilgrim inns and old weaving houses. - There are plenty of opportunities and places to stop for refreshments. - In the afternoon, we will travel to Sandwich (around 40 minutes drive) through some quaint villages and pretty countryside. - Our walking tour will take in the historic quayside, town bridge, weavers' houses, and historic churches. It is truly one of England's hidden gems. - Afterwards we will return to your hotel or railway station / cruise port as appropriate.
