Hello, and welcome! My name is Don, and I’m lucky to call Canterbury home. I love its rich history and traditions, and I can't wait to share them with you. As an avid walker, I enjoy exploring fascinating places on foot, and I also appreciate a good glass of real ale or craft beer—both of which often make my tours even more enjoyable! Professionally, I’m a scientist who has presented my work internationally and worked with students to inspire the next generation of STEM professionals. My experience in public speaking—through conferences and my time with Toastmasters International—has shaped my storytelling skills, allowing me to bring history to life in an engaging and memorable way. Before guiding, I worked as an analytical chemist in the pharmaceutical industry, doing what I like to call “Industrial CSI.” Though I’ve transitioned into leading tours, I continue my passion for STEM outreach. When I’m not sharing Canterbury’s stories, you’ll find me outdoors. I’ve completed the Three Peaks Challenges (both National and Yorkshire) and hiked the entire coastline of the Isle of Wight—so whether you’re up for a relaxed stroll or a more adventurous walk, I’ve got you covered.
