The journey takes you through alpine meadows, forests with dramatic views of mountain peaks and finally to the Jungfraujoch with views of the Aletsch glacier. The Village walking tour traces the history of the village from its first settlement to modern times. Enjoy the story of the first visits by tourists and winter sports development including the world famous Lauberhorn ski race. Explore the chocolate box beauty of the architectural buildings set upon the backdrop of the Jungfrau massif.

Meet in Interlaken and purchase transport tickets. Board the regional train to Lauterbrunnen. The twenty minute journey follows the gorge formed by glaciers and the glacial meltwater of the Weisse Lutschine river with dramatic vertical rock walls. Wengen is not accessible by car and we will take the cog railway from Lauterbrunnen with panoramic views of the iconic trio of mountains - Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau which takes about twenty minutes. The walking tour traces the history of the village and explores the streets focussing on the architecture and the stories behind its development. We then ascend by cog railway to Kleine Scheidegg at the foot of the Eiger North Face and change trains to the Jungfraujoch. Tour of the Ice palace and viewing platform with an optional walk out onto the glacier. Lunch in the Crystal Restaurant with views of the Unesco world heritage site of the Aletsch glacier. Return to Interlaken Ost station. Approximately three hours.
