Private Tour Geneva Science

Despite its late development compared to other European cities, Geneva is now in a leading position in scientific research. The first well known scientists appear in the XVIIIth century and establish very soon many connections owing to the important role of the city in the financial area. The main event is the climbing of Mont-Blanc made by Ferdinand-Bénédict de Saussure, alpinist and scientist at the same time, head of the first scientifical expedition in this area. After having had a look at the residences of some major scientists of the past in the old town, we will go to the Science Museum located in a beautiful park. There we will get acquainted with the most important contributions of the local scientists of the XVIIth and XIXth century. We will then reach the outskirts of the town to visit the Science Gate at CERN, (European Council for Nuclear Research) where physicists and engineers try to find the fundamental structure of the universe through particle accelerators and detectors.
