Hi! My name is Guillermo and I am truly passionate about showing and sharing the beautiful things that Gran Canaria has to offer to curious travellers! I really love spending time in the outdoors of this magnificent "Miniature Continent". I like diving and snorkeling in the ocean, riding a motorbike slowly on this astonishing roads, walking through the volcanic landscapes, hiking, visiting ancient archaeological sites, travelling back in time with the mysterious history of the first civilization that settled in this land, observing the smallest details and the biggest treasures that Nature offers us. Being a tour guide is my life. I really enjoy my work! I have been working as a tour guide since 2004. In my first part-time job I was wilderness tour leader in the surroundings of Doñana National Park, in Huelva and Sevilla, where I was finishing my degree in environmental sciences. I arrived in Gran Canaria to work as a health and safety inspector, and I just fell in love with this land: nature, the landscapes, all that heritage including an absolutely remarkable archaeology. The Island really got me, and I decided that I had to spend my time and energy doing what I do best: showing all this beauty, sharing all this natural and cultural heritage as a personal guide. I began as a specialised birdwatching guide; but today I can tell that the experiences that I try to provide are the perfect mixture of nature, culture, landscapes, legends and gastronomy; delivering that in a professional way but also as if I were showing the island to my friends or relatives when they come to visit me. The results are always the same: priceless faces and reactions; the feeling that you have really squeezed the best out of your time in Gran Canaria, and a sentence that is repeated again and again: "I didn't expect Gran Canaria to be like this!" In this full-day experience will visit the 4 most interesting points in the municipality of the Capital City of the island; mixing nature, panoramic views and culture. We will begin with an easy and charming walk in the Botanical Garden. We will continue with an approach to the last volcanoes that were active on the island: "Bandama Volcanoes", where we will be delighted with the views. We will get closer to the foundation period of the city visiting the old Quarters, Triana and Vegueta, where we will stop to eat some tapas and we will enjoy a walk full of history, tales and legends.

We had a great day with Guillermo who accommodated the 7 of us (2 with less mobility) with 2 taxis and a slightly customized itinerary. We enjoyed the lookout from Bandama, Guillermo’s extensive knowledge of flora in the Botanical Gardens and his great story telling throughout the day in the city center. We were a bit rushed at the end to get taxis back to the pier but we made it just in time and ahead of many other returning passengers. It was a great last tour for our ship’s itinerary!
Guillermo was one of the best guides we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. He has a passion for Las Palmas, especially the history, and an expertise that was particularly noteworthy when he lead us through the botanical gardens. If you are planning a day in beautiful Las Palmas you must look up Guillermo, he made our day a perfect one.
Guillermo did a great job today! His passion for the botanical gardens was fantastic. I am normally not a botanical gardens type of person, but I really enjoyed it. We had a wonderful lunch of tapas and wine at a cute little local place. Then enjoyed a walk around the old town. It was a lovely day. We would highly recommend Guillermo!!
We were only in Gran Canaria because that’s where our cruise ended. But we debarked at 8 in the morning and our flight wasn’t until 7 at night. We’ve had great experiences with Tours by Locals, so we arranged a tour of Las Palmas and the surrounding area. Guillermo told us specifically where to find him and was waiting for us. He confirmed what we wanted to see and went through the itinerary, then we were off. We spent time strolling through the old town while he told us stories about the history of the archipelago, both its geological formation and its cultural history. Then he took us to the botanical gardens where we talked about the plants and birdlife. We ended the tour above Bandama Caldera, with its stunning views of the city and island. Guillermo knew his history, his geology, and his biology, and he weaved it all together into an interesting and informative tour.
