Birdwatching Daytrip to the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve

We will go to the summit of the island to get into the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and look for our very rare blue treasure: the Gran Canaria Blue Chaffinch, recently classified as a new species. Known as Fringilla teydea subspecies polaztekii, and reclassified in 2015 as Fringilla polaztekii, with around 300 birds in the whole world, all living in this island. Once we finish in the Blue chaffinch territory, we will go for the laurel pigeon (Columba junoniae), also a Canarian endemism that nests in the rainforests of the north. We will spot more birds on our way, almost all of them endemic species or subspecies for this island, the archipelago or Macaronesia! This route is good not only for the birder but also for Nature and Culture lovers because we are going to delight ourselves with majestic landscapes and natural history! As well as local gastronomy!
