Birdwatching Daytrip to the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve

We had the best tour we could imagine in Gran Canaria with Guillermo.  He showed us hidden gems all over the island during the tour we would have never found ourselves.  The tour was super well organized and there was never a dull moment.  Guillermo is very knowledgeable and more importantly a great people person.  He kept us entertained all day long with interesting stories and historical facts about the Island while taking us to some of the most amazing amazing places.  If you are ever in Gran Canaria and looking for a tour don't hesitate to book one with Guillermo.  Its an experience you'll never forget.

A very big thankyou to Guillermo for a wonderful half day bird watching tour! We were able to tick off a stack of new birds! He exceeded all our expectations! He knew where to find the birds, knowledgable of conservation efforts, general local history and also architectural insights. He was able to fulfil my special request of the Hoopoe! Fantastic tour! I would not have enjoyed my visit to Gran Canaria without this all day tour around the island. The guide imparted knowledge about Gran Canaria's micro climates, geology, environmental and water issues, plants, animals, way of life in the past and present - and of course the birds! I also appreciated that you had a spare set of binoculars.

Diese Tour war ideal, um möglichst viele der wichtigen Inselarten an einem einzigen Tag sehen zu können. Der Guide Guillermo kannte die Arten und Plätze ausgezeichnet. Der Gran-Canaria-Fink konnte so schnell gefunden werden. Auch weitere Arten wie Kanarentaube, Kanaren-Buchfink, Kanaren-Rotkehlchen, Wüstenfalke, Wüstengimpel, Raubwürger, Triel usw. konnten schön gesehen werden. Am Ende des Tages standen 50 Arten auf der Liste. Guillermo ging auf meine persönlichen Wunscharten ein, um speziell diese auch finden zu können. Hätte auch nicht erwartet, dass Mitte Juni die Arten noch so gesangsaktiv sind und entsprechend leichter zu finden. Nachdem ich an diesem Tag zeitlich keine Einschränkungen hatte ging die Tour über den ganzen Tag. Waren somit ungefähr 14 Stunden unterwegs. Wir konnten somit viele verschieden Lebensräume besuchen. Kurz: Ein genialer Tag.

Our trip with Guillermo was the highlight of our trip to Gran Canaria. A truly exhilarating experience, not just for the variety of stunning birds, but the stunning landscapes and different ecosystems that support these creatures. We were delighted to count such delights as Blue Chaffinch, Laurel Pigeon, Trumpeter Finch as 'lifers' and it was also a delight to see the Island's lesser celebrated subspecies - varieties of chaffinch, canary, robin, chiffchaff and more. There were plenty of other birding treats and we were amazed by Guillermo's knowledge of the Island - its geological formation and variety of flora and fauna, its rich history, present day and future direction - all told to us in effortless English, with passion and enthusiasm, with a natural storyteller's gift - witty, kind and generous with his time.

We had a fabulous day’s birding with Guillermo! We saw every species of endemic birds including the blue chaffinch, laurel pigeon, canaries, canary island chaffinch to name just a few! Guillermo is a delightful guide: hugely knowledgeable, thoughtful and great company. He was particularly sweet to our 12 year old son who is a keen birder. Highly, highly recommended!
