If I told you I always wanted to be a guide, it would not be true. As a coal miner's daughter in a coal mine town in a period when Asturias wasn't a touristic place, guiding wasn't an option. I always wanted to work with people (as a teacher, hostess, actress, and psychologist), and at the end of my last high school year in 1989, I came across tourism by chance. By that time our Universities had Tourism degrees for students to work elsewhere. However, step by step we invented tourism in Asturias. Now I love my area even more because I'm part of its history. Actually, two articles of the law that regulates guiding in Asturias were suggested by me and I'm very proud of them. If I told you English is my 2nd language, it'd also not be true because we could only study French in primary school. So when I was 16 I decided to attend private lessons. Nobody studied languages "just for fun" in those days, not in my hometown, so the teacher was surprised by my reasons to study English: "to understand songs and to travel". By the time I started my tourism studies, those lessons were very useful but just the beginning. And yes, I traveled a bit and I'm even able to sing in English accompanied by my acoustic guitar in an amateur way, and usually guide English-speaking guests. Later I also learned Italian and German and recently I've started with Portuguese. If I told you I've been working as a guide all the time since I finished my studies in 1992, I'd lie again. The fact is that especially at the beginning, when tourism wasn't so important here, I also worked in a hotel, a museum, 4 tourism offices, and giving private language lessons. It's good to see tourists from the other side of the desk so I can better understand how things work. It helps me when guiding, which is what I really want to do for the rest of my professional life. Thanks for reading and considering my services! See you soon in the Principality of Asturias! Asturias Guide License Cathedral of Oviedo Guide License Botanical Gardens of Gijón Guide License Ways of Sefarad Guide License Language School: Superior Degrees in English, French, Italian and German I always include a tasty break proposing something tyical from the place but you'll be free to have another thing you prefer. The idea is sitting a bit and relax in a typical place. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

I wasn't born in Gijón, but this is the city I chose to live in, because this is where I feel like I'm home. Also, I know I'm not the only one with this feeling, and I hope you will have it too. Gijón is not the capital city of Asturias, but it is the biggest city in the region. On this tour we'll visit the Labour University with its beautiful patios, which is the biggest building in Spain. Afterwards, we'll visit the biggest Botanical Gardens in the Iberian Peninsula. I had the pleasure to participate as a guide in the "open doors" month when it was inaugurated! In the middle of our tour, we'll visit a charming 30s art deco coffee shop in order to taste typical chocolate con churros. Finally we'll have a walk in the historical area called Cimadevilla between the beach and the sports harbour and holds interesting monuments such as St. Peter's Church, the City Hall and the Roman Walls.
·Our tour will start with you getting picked up either at the port or at your hotel to begin to enjoy Gijón! ·We'll then start our trip in private vehicle towards Gijón's main spots. ·Our first stop will be in the Labour University, which includes a guided visit where we'll cover its Corinthian Atrium, Doric & Baroque Patios and its main square and the Tower (using an elevator). ·What follows will be a typical chocolate con churros tasting in a local venue! ·Later we'll venture into Cimadevilla, the historical area of Gijón, where we'll cover: - King 's Pelayo statue - Emperor Octavio Augusto's statue - St. Peter's Church - Jovellanos House - Remedios Chapel - City Hall - Roman Walls - Revillagigedo's Palace - Valdés' Palace - Clock Tower - Cider Tree ·At last, we'll drive across Gijon again to take you back to your accomodation. *If you have a specific itinerary in mind send me a message and I'll customize the tour for you.
