Hola! My name is Debora and I am very excited to show you around in beautiful Asturias! I am from the Netherlands, but married to a Spanish guy. From the moment that he introduced me to his home region Asturias a few years ago I fell in love with the landscape, friendly people and great food, and I am looking forward to share it with you! Since I was a young girl I have been passionate about nature and travelling. Next to my studies in Forestry and Nature Conservation and International Land and Water Management, I have therefore been volunteering as a guide for several Dutch and international organizations, where I primarily focused on showing children and teenagers the beauty of nature. I have visited most European countries as well as spent time in Indonesia, Zambia, Mexico and the USA. These trips allowed me to get to know other cultures and get acquainted with amazing local habits and customs. The inviting and friendly attitude of most of the people that I met in these countries, encourage me to do the same for people wanting to get to know Asturias! I live in Oviedo in the north of Spain since the beginning of 2018. Right from the start, I have explored not only this city but also nearby cities such as Gijon and Aviles, as well as the surrounding countryside. If you are looking for a guide that is passionate about the Asturian culture and its landscape, do not hesitate to contact me! PhD, MSc and BSc in Environmental Sciences // Official National Guide of the Dutch National Guides' Association // Cambridge C2 Proficiency Certificate (Highest qualification level of English) // Local Entrepreneur Certificate by the Chamber of Commerce of Oviedo, Asturias // Over ten years of experience leading excursions for youth groups (age 8-16) in the Netherlands.

Overview of your Gijon tour

Do you want to learn more about Asturias' prehistoric treasures? Then travel back to the prehistory with me and discover World Heritage Site Tito Bustillo, Ardines Cave and Asturias' Jurassic Coast! Before moving to Asturias, I didn't know that you could find some of Europe's most spectacular cave art here. Or that Asturias was once inhabited by dinosaurs, let alone, that you can still discover their tracks! By combining my scientific background in environmental sciences and my personal interest in history, I designed this tour to amaze visitors about the prehistoric treasures of Asturias. We'll visit the most impressive "panel" of World Heritage Site Tito Bustillo Cave, discovered in 1968, with over 100 figures, among which the famous depictions of bovines, horses and deer. I also guide you through the Jurassic Museum of Asturias to tell you everything about these impressive reptiles. This tour further includes a great stroll along Asturias' beautiful coastline to search for original dinosaur footprints.

Your Gijon tour itinerary

The tour starts right when you're picked up at your hotel or other place of preference, since your personal guide and driver stay with you all day. We'll visit multiple prehistoric sites during this tour: - Tito Bustillo Cave, a World Heritage Site with one of the most spectacular examples of prehistoric cave art in Europe; - Tito Bustillo Cave Art Centre with replicates of the inaccessible parts of the Tito Bustillo Cave; - Ardines Cave, a geological dome of more than 40 meters in height (if time permits); - Dinosaur Museum of Asturias; - Asturias' beautiful coast to discover gigantic prehistoric dinosaur footprints. * If you want to go back to the prehistory in Asturias, this is the tour for you! * The order depends on the available time slots of the guided visits for the particular day. Since the itinerary of the day depends on the availability of entrance tickets to the cave, lunch time is a bit flexible. I will inform you about the exact itinerary and times after I reserved the tickets.
