I have been working as a tourist guide since 2007 and I still feel very passionate about it. I was born in this Spanish region, since my early childhood, I have always been very interested in Geography, History, Art, Foreign Languages, Science… I have a civil engineering background too. I try to adapt every tour to fulfill the expectations of every single customer. I love to make them feel like they are home. Every time I finish a tour there is something new that I have learned from my visitors, as I think guiding is more about exchanging experiences rather than just a monotonous speech. I am covering both the Region of Murcia and the Region of Valencia, as well as the provinces of Almería and Albacete, all of them located in the southeastern corner of the Iberian península. I keep developing new and innovative shore excursions from the ports of Cartagena, Alicante, Almería & Valencia. In this field I have been running and guiding private shore excursions for more than 10 years. It has allowed me to know exactly what my guests expect from a tour and what to do to have satisfied customers once the tour has finished. I am used to guiding different kinds of people, covering a wide range: families with children, retired people, disabled, teenagers, students, couples on their honeymoon, incentive groups, VIPs, pilgrims. . . That's why I can adapt any of my tours in order to match the profile of my visitors. And last but not least, this is how some of my guests have described me in few words: enthusiastic, professional, informative & flexible. Please let me be your guide and hopefully, you won't be disappointed! Cartagena has a lot of history to be discovered. As a guide who is in love with this city, I would like to take you on a private tour which immerses the visitor in more than 2500 years of history. This city offers the traveler testimonies of history in each Street, in each square. Different civilizations came to this port and conquered the city. We have time to learn about the Carthaginians & Romans, founders, and conquerors of the city, and the magnificent city they were able to build: Roman theatre, amphitheater, baths, walls, archaeological sites. . . Cartagena was founded with the name of Quart-Hadast, in the year 229 b. C. by Asdrúbal. It was just for a short period, as later came the Second Punic War and Romans dominated the city. The military past of Cartagena focused on the naval base, is also featured in this tour, as well as the mining heyday, with its gorgeous façades. And for your free time, tips about shopping streets & tapas restaurants with a real Spanish touch.
We start at the Punic Wall archaeological site, to learn about the origins of the city. It is the only archaeological site of the Carthaginians in mainland Europe. Next, to the remains of the Wall, we can admire some medieval frescoes in the crypt of Saint Joseph. Then we will have the chance to enjoy some of the best views of the city from the Conception Hill, one of the five hills that turned the city into being "Little Rome": The natural port, the naval base, the old town, and the new city districts. The Roman Theatre was discovered by chance in 1988 and since then it has become the most popular spot in Cartagena. It was a big surprise for the citizens of Cartagena as no one expected to find a Roman Theatre in the heart of the old town. We head for downtown Cartagena to admire some "art nouveau" townhouses and stroll through the lively pedestrian streets. And last but not least we cannot miss one of the icons of the city, the Peral Submarine, designed by a local engineer in 1888.
