Cartagena: The Mediterranean Pearl Half Day Shore Excursion

Cartagena is one of the oldest cities of the whole mediterranean coastline, so this tour is going to show you the highlights of this fascinating city. We are going to go back on time more than 2300 years to see the oldest remain standing in the city: The Punic Wall. The punic people, or carthaginians are the ones who founded our city and built the first defensive system of Cartagena which for sure will impress you. After knowing the origin, you will get to know the 600 years of Roman presence visiting the most important archaeological site of Cartagena, its stunning Roman Theater, which is going to make you feel like if you were in that same age, walking down the original steps like the romans did. After that we are going to see the Art Noveau buildings located in the downtown which are the result of mining at the outskirts of the city in the XIX Century and the prosperity brought by them. *This tour can be tailor made to focus on a specific age (Roman, medieval, art nouveau houses, etc).

- Coming out of the terminal, a luxurious van will be waiting for you to get the first touch of the city through a panoramic drive around the downtown. - The 1st stop we are going to visit is the Punic Wall Museum to learn about the foundation of Cartagena, called Quart Hadast by the Carthaginians, and the wall built by them. - Our 2nd stop is going to be a wonderful vantage point where the whole city and natural harbor can be seen, where you will see why we are an important military city and the best postcard pictures can be taken. - From there we will move to the Downtown to walk inside the Roman Theater Museum where columns, capitels, altarpieces and different items from the roman period can be admired. - Once we have seen the Theater, a walk through the main street is compulsory to get delighted with the Art Noveau Houses and the City Hall Building. - And finally tips about shopping streets & tapas restaurants with a real Spanish touch will be given to ensure the best experience in your free time.
