Hi and welcome to almost paradise! My name is Elvis and was born and bred in the city of Basseterre, in St. Kitts. I would like to share my knowledge of the history, flora and fauna, culture and architecture of St. Kitts with you. St. Kitts is the first island settled by both the British and the French in the eastern Caribbean. The island is very rich in French and British history. I have traveled to a few countries like Canada and about six other Caribbean islands. My private tours will give you a view that only a local can give. You will get to see one of the best-preserved fortresses in the Caribbean, some of the best-restored sugar plantation houses and their botanical gardens. I will help you to appreciate the beauty and history of my island that I always like to share with my guests. I am a member of one of the three taxi organizations on the island. Also, I am a member of the St. Kitts Nevis amateur radio society. After receiving my taxi license in 2006, for the last 12 years, I have been driving taxis and give tours. It's always a pleasure to offer tours of the island just to see the satisfaction on the guests' face of being in paradise. Come on here and let me share this paradise with you! In 2006 I received my taxi operator license and have been driving taxis and give tours for the last 12 years. As a licensed tour guide, I will be able to tour you to all the major sites. Every year it is mandatory that all drivers have to do a recertification course to maintain a very high standard of service. I have not licensed to give tours in the rain forest and the volcano but you can visit both on tour.

The French came to the island in 1625 and settled in Basseterre. The tour takes you around Basseterre where you can see some of the well preserved historical buildings, like the National Museum built in 1894. Also, some of the many churches like the Roman Catholic and the St. Georges Anglican Church. Our first main stop is at the Romney Manor which is in Old Road. The British first came and settled here in 1623. Samuel Jefferson built his plantation house here. Home to best Botanical garden and the Batik factory where one of a kind clothing is made, by waxing and dyeing. We then go onto the Brimstone Hill Fortress which started building by the British about 1690. It is a man made UNESCO world heritage site and a national park. Once called the Gibraltar of the West Indies. The highest point is about 800 feet above see level. From the Fortress on a clear day you can see four neighboring islands. We then drive to Sir Timothy Hill at Frigate bay where you see both the Atlantic and the Caribbean Sea.
After meeting you at the Gold Mine store at Port Zante we then proceed to the air conditioned van. We travel around historical Basseterre and then along the northwest coast line of the island. Our first main stop is Romney Manor which has the best botanical gardens on the island and we get to look at how batik is done by waxing and dyeing. We then move to our second stop, the Brimstone Hill Fortress which is a man made UNESCO World Heritage site. Then we go back in the direction we came to Frigate Bay. This is where most of our hotels are and Sir Timothy Hill. Here is where you get to see both the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea separated by under a hundred yards. From here the guests have the option of going to the beach to swim or just relax in the tropical sun for about two hours We then return to the cruise ship at Port Zante for the end of the tour.
