Basseterre - Historical City Highlights Tour

Experience the rich historic highlights of our capital city: Basseterre, which means "low ground", a name we got from the French who came to our island in 1625, a year before the British did. We became independent from Great Britain in 1983, when we renamed our current Independence Square, which used to be a slave market. In this square there's a beautiful 19th century fountain, and on its eastern side, the French design Catholic Church is located, built in the early 1900s. An older church, dating back to the early 1700s and rebuilt a century later, is St George's Anglican Church, which had been destroyed by a fire. We'll attest to the presence of the British further along the tour, visiting a war memorial with a monument honoring fallen soldiers who fought alongside them in the 1st and 2nd World Wars. We'll also enjoy a drink next to an infinity pool at the Palm Court Garden's lookout point, before heading to the nesting of white egrets: a special açaí tree, with thorns that protect them against rodents.

-Our first stop would be visiting the National Museum. -Then, we'd visit the Berkley Memorial, better known as our Piccadilly Circus. -We'd move on to the Independence Square, formerly known as the Pall Mall Square. -Then we'd continue to the Catholic church. -Next, St. Georges Anglican church. -Then, the War Memorial. -Next, Palms Courts Garden, with a great view of the capital & sister island Nevis in the background. -Afterwards, we'd see the Nesting of white Egrets. -After, we'd go to the southeast of the island to Timothy Hill, where the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean sea meet. - If time allows us, we'd venture to South Friars Beach (Carambola Beach Club), before going back to you resort or your cruise. *Customizable itinerary.
