Hi and welcome to almost paradise! My name is Elvis and was born and bred in the city of Basseterre, in St. Kitts. I would like to share my knowledge of the history, flora and fauna, culture and architecture of St. Kitts with you. St. Kitts is the first island settled by both the British and the French in the eastern Caribbean. The island is very rich in French and British history. I have traveled to a few countries like Canada and about six other Caribbean islands. My private tours will give you a view that only a local can give. You will get to see one of the best-preserved fortresses in the Caribbean, some of the best-restored sugar plantation houses and their botanical gardens. I will help you to appreciate the beauty and history of my island that I always like to share with my guests. I am a member of one of the three taxi organizations on the island. Also, I am a member of the St. Kitts Nevis amateur radio society. After receiving my taxi license in 2006, for the last 12 years, I have been driving taxis and give tours. It's always a pleasure to offer tours of the island just to see the satisfaction on the guests' face of being in paradise. Come on here and let me share this paradise with you! In 2006 I received my taxi operator license and have been driving taxis and give tours for the last 12 years. As a licensed tour guide, I will be able to tour you to all the major sites. Every year it is mandatory that all drivers have to do a recertification course to maintain a very high standard of service. I have not licensed to give tours in the rain forest and the volcano but you can visit both on tour.

Overview of your Basseterre tour

The tour takes you on a drive on the northwest coastline of the island where you visit two of the best restored sugar cane plantation houses. At one time St. Kitts had about 68 sugar plantations. The first piece of land given out by a British king in St. Kitts was Wingfield Estate. Romney Manor was where Samuel Jefferson built his plantation house. Now one of the most visited sites on the island. Home to the best botanical garden where visitors and locals have gotten married. Here also is the batik factory where there are one of a kind clothing that is made by waxing and dyeing. We will also visit the Fairviews great house. Once was the home of the French military commander. Then home to families and personalities, including the great grandfather of the British novelist Virginia Woolf. In the 1990s a local couple bought the place and renamed it Fairviews Inn and turn it into one of the island first full service hotels. By 2008 it became a museum and a botanical garden. We then drive to sir Timothy Hill.

Your Basseterre tour itinerary

We meet at the cruise terminal by the Gold Mine store and then proceed to the air conditioned van. Our tour takes us around the first French city of Basseterre where you can take pictures of some of the historical buildings. We then drive to Palm court garden with its botanical garden overlooking the city of Basseterre Then to Fairviews great house, once a plantation house and a hotel. Once famous for its New Year's Ball it is now converted into a museum and botanical garden. At Romney Manor there is a botanical garden and a batik factory. You also get to see the ruins of the first British sugar and rum factory on the island. We then drive to Sir Timothy Hill to see both the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea separated by under a hundred yards. From here the guests have the option of going to the beach and swim or just relax in the tropical sun. As your private tour guide I am flexible to your wishes in making your tour enjoyable. The tour ends when we return to the cruse terminal
