Coba, Amazing Cenote and Mayan family lunch - From Cancun

From the minute Diego picked us up at our hotel, he shared his impressive knowledge of mayan history, way of life, respect for the people of this region. Coba was fascinating . I was there before on a self-guided visit, but I learned so much from Diego's descriptions. He provided insight into the historical time frame of Coba. Riding bikes to the temple was great fun. Next we drove a short distance to a cenote where we swam in crystal clear water in an underground cave- magical! Then, off to lunch with a mayan family. Carlos and his family welcomed us warmly. We saw the chicken cooked in a pot in a specially built pit. Tried our hand at making tortillas, sampled their local chocolate and honey. A wonderful glimpse into the lives of those living in the Yucatan. The final stop- a mayan shaman. A truly remarkable opportunity to learn about the cultural and beliefs of the mayan people.

This was our 2nd tour with Diego, and his driver, Eric. Diego has such an excitement for Mayan history and for the culture; He made Coba come alive for us! We loved being able to visit the Mayan family and see them cook our meal. It was a privilege to visit them and to see the wonderful work they are doing to preserve the animals. The cenote we visited was lovely and made more special by the opportunity to meet the shaman and participate in a Mayan ritual. An amazing day!

We loved our day with Diego. He was so knowlegable about the area and the Mayan culture and history. The day was interesting and fun. He was great with my 7 year old and even got him to eat traditional Mayan food. I highly recommend Diego!

I took my daughter (12) and 3 of her friends on the Mayan Temple and Cenote tour w/ Diego. This tour was amazing! Diego & our driver customized our tour to give us the historical elements we wanted & the adventure we expected. Diego was EXTREMELY knowledgeable. One of the best parts was being able to visit local Mayan communities and contribute to their local economy. We even got to eat a traditional Mayan lunch at a Mayan run animal sanctuary. This was truly a once in a life time experience.

Diego provided a really enjoyable and unique private tour on my recent stay in Cancún. We were able to miss the crowds at Coba, then went to a Cenote then a wildlife reserve in Mayan villages, which we had to ourselves. I can't think of a better way of discovering and connecting with a new part of the world. Great trip.

The day was superb! Diego is knowledgeable,caring,flexible and among the best guides I have had while visiting 150 countries. He has good judgement and is well educated Everyone in our group from 11 to 77 was pleased.
