Lake Victoria Western Kenya Highlights

Having grown in western Kenya and seen the opportunities, this tour serves to highlight the great potential of the region and brings memories of great adventurous moments at home in the lake Victoria. Western Kenya comprises some of the most interesting destinations in Kenya. It starts from the western side of the Great Rift Valley and runs through to the border with Uganda. The western Kenya has some of the rarest species of wildlife such as the sitatunga, the large tracts of tea plantation, the expansive and one of the largest fresh water lakes -Lake Victoria- not to mention the vibrant and diverse cultures. I love the exposure travelers get from the diversity as well as the travel experience beyond traditional tourist destinations. There is a constant sense of refreshment with everyone on this tour given the diversity of experience from the culture, birdlife and the rare wildlife species in Ruma and Saiwa swamp national reserves as well as the exotic Rusinga islands.

Day 1: Nairobi - Nakuru, 4hrs 8 hrs - Depart to Nakuru stopping to view Great Rift Valley then proceed to Naivasha for lunch and continue on to Nakuru National Park arriving in time for mid afternoon game drive. Day 2: Nakuru - Kericho, 3hrs 6 hrs - Morning game drive to catch some wildlife before returning to lodge and depart to Kericho. 10 hrs - Depart to Kericho through the Nakuru countryside and tea plantations. Day 3: Kericho full day to tea plantations and historical sites. Day 4: Kericho - Kisumu, 2. 5 hrs 10 hrs - Depart for Kisumu arriving late afternoon followed by a short city tour and overnight. Day 5: Kisumu full-day cultural visits, museums and the Saiwa Swamp Reserve. Day 6: Kisumu - Rusinga island, 2 hrs 9 hrs - Catch morning ferry to Rusinga island. Day 7: Full day Rusinga island partaking in the various water activities and events. Day 8: Rusinga - Kisumu - Nairobi, 5hrs + Nairobi Flight Return to Nairobi.
