Home to the Adamsons' Camp - Kampi ya Simba - the former home of George and Joy Adamson Born free, the Kora National Park offers a pristine wilderness dotted with tall inselbergs and graced by the Tana River on which the Adamson's Falls, Grand Falls and Kora Rapids are found. Visitors can enjoy the diverse birdlife, fishing in Tana River, rock-climbing and also visit George Adamson's grave. Day 1 to Day 4- Nairobi - Kora National Park After breakfast, we drive to Kora National Park. It lies in the north-eastern lowlands below the Nyambeni hills. Meru forms part of a larger wilderness area along the Tana River, including Bisanadi and Mwingi National Reserves, Kora national park and Rahole national reserve. The wetter north-western sector is hilly, with rich volcanic soils. Numerous permanent streams cross the Park, and 3 large rivers straddle the reserve: the Tana to the south, the Ura to the south-west and the Rojeweru to the east. The park was made famous by the writings of Joy Adamson, most noted for her book Born Free, the true story of Elsa, the lioness, and her return into the wild. During our days, while having the 'spice' game drive, the wildlife you are likely to see in Meru includes over 400 bird species that have been recorded. You should see Baboon, Buffalo, Bushbuck, Duiker, Eland, Elephant, Gazelle, Genet, Gerenuk, Giraffe, Hartebeest, Hippo, Hyena, Hyrax, Impala, Jackal, Kudu.
