Day 1: Departure from Taormina to Syracuse, the Greek capital of Sicily. Visit of Ortygia (the old city center) and the archaeological area featuring the Greek Theatre and more. The quaint, charming, and Baroque Ortygia is an excellent destination for exploration, boasting shops, cafes, and the ornate Cathedral. A lunch break will be taken before returning to Taormina. Day 2: Drive to an elevation of 6500 feet on Mt Etna, the largest and most active volcano in Europe. Walk on old craters from the past or take the cable car to get higher up till 9500 feet. Enjoy typical Sicilian dishes at a home restaurant (Optional) with a sommelier in a private villa nestled among the vineyard and taste the local Etna wines. Return to Taormina. (If Mount Etna isn’t possible to do because of unfavorable weather conditions, it’s possible to do another tour).
