« When you leave beautiful places, you carry them with you wherever you go » Welcome to Puglia!!! (or Apulia if you prefer…) My name is Fabio, I am an experienced licensed tourist guide of Apulia. I have been giving tours since 2002 to English and French speaking clients from all over the world. I also worked as an employee at the Lecce Municipality tourist info point for 17 years which has given me a wide perspective of my region from both an institutional and a touristic point of view… I have been usually involved in giving Institutional tours to Representatives (Ministers, Ambassadors and so on) during their official visits and in giving shore , private, customized and small group tours. I work mainly in the south-center part of the region, which comprises the Salento and Itria valley areas, providing tours of LECCE, OTRANTO, LEUCA, GALLIPOLI, GALATINA, OSTUNI, ALBEROBELLO, POLIGNANO, LOCOROTONDO, CISTERNINO, BRINDISI and other beautiful smaller villages in the same area. Half day, full day, multi day, landscape, food and wine and customized tours are provided according to your needs and tastes. I am in love with this area and during tours I strive to transmit that same love and passion to my clients. This part of Apulia is mostly sea, sun, sights, traditions and TASTY MEDITERRANEAN FOOD!!! Then, the question is "What are you waiting for…???!!!" Come and visit this part of Italy with me… I will help you visit the main attractions, to learn our history and culture and most of all to immerse yourself in our traditions living what locals live and eating what locals eat. I like giving my clients a vision of Apulia from a local guy point of view including also workshops, food and wine tastings and farmhouse's experiences during my services. I always help visitors with my personal recommendations on what to explore (places) and where to reserve (places to eat) after my tours. Dedicated to those who want to discover the Byzantine art and the beginning of the Latinization activity in this part of Italy. An important cultural and historical passage for this region. Many visitors come to Salento to visit Lecce and its beautiful beaches, but this part of Italy is so much more! I will make you discover the so many traces of the Byzantine culture clearly displayed in the amazing St. Stephen Church in Soleto, an incredible evidence of the Greek background in this part of Apulia and its unique small historic center. The visit to the St. Catherine Basilica will amaze you! Its stunning fresco cycle is second only to the one in Assisi. Have you ever heard about "Taranta dance"? If you haven't yet. . . well, join this tour! Last but not least the visit of Gallipoli and its island. We will finish the day enjoying an aperitif at my favourite place to experience also the best sunset!
Your Lecce tour itinerary
• The tour begins with the visit of Soleto. We will visit the beautiful St. Steven small church full of Byzantine frescoes, the Orsini Steeple plus the beautiful narrow streets of the historic center. • Then head to Galatina (by car) to the Pasticceria Ascalone, where Pasticciotto cake was invented. • Guided tour to the beauties of Galatina and its wonderful historic center, where are located the St. Catherine Basilica - second only to the one in Assisi because its frescos (XIII century), St. Paul Chapel, famous for the phenomenon of the Tarantate and the Mother Church. • Lunch break at sea and visit of Gallipoli in the afternoon. • Walking tour in the narrow and windy streets of the historic center of the sea town, situated on a rock in the sea filled with wonderful churches (St. Agatha, Purity, and St. Francis) and monuments in "Gallipolino" baroque style. • Water front aperitif at sunset.
