Lecce and Otranto Private Full Day Tour

This is a tour that I am particularly involved in. Lecce is the city where my family comes from, where I studied and which I usually frequent. Oranto is a unique city, surrounded by a blue and crystalline sea. Lecce, sometimes called the Florence of the South, is the main city on southern Puglia's Salento Peninsula and one of the top places to go in Puglia. Walking trough the old city of Lecce we'll appreciate the beautiful building and churches in the typical Barocco stile from 16th century. We'll see also some important ruins from ancient roman time. Also notable are traditional handicrafts, especially the art of paper mache. Otranto will surprise you with the beautiful landscape and its medieval romanic cathedral, where is preserved an amazing floor mosaic from the 11th century rich of symbols from the ancient past.

We will visit: Lecce - Piazza del Duomo, or Cathedral Square - The Roman Amphitheater -Sant'Oronzo Square Church of Santa Chiara, famous for its ceiling with paper mache' decorations -Basilica of Santa Croce, richly decorated facade and is considered the emblem of the city - the Castle of Charles V that was built in the 16th century. Otranto: - the cathedral; - the ancient Castle; - The beautiful view of the port and the sea; - walking tour in the old town.
