WW2, Operation Husky, the Allied landing in Sicily - Full Day Shore Excursion

This is an emotional and historical tour, to understand how hard has been living in war times, and what has been the impact of the first landing of the allied in Europe in 1943, a precious witness that we must keep forever in our memories. The tour will start in Catania: First we will visit the Allied Landings Museum, where you'll see what took place in Sicily during World War II with a great focus on Operation Husky. The museum includes bunker reconstructions, videos, photos, models, statues, original clothing and documents belonging to the war period. After that we will leave the town an have a first quick stop at the Commonwealth War Cemetery, where 2. 135 soldiers are buried. Then we will arrive in Syracuse to visit the ruins of the italian coastal batteries that are located in the wonderfull Plemmiro Nature reserve, in a magnificent scenery where you can also see greek querries, and caves. Before going back to catania we will stop in Ortigia to visit the Ipogeo, a querries used as a shelter in 1943.

Syracuse: Plemmiro Nature reserve that contains old greek quarries and the ruins of Italian coastal artillery and Ipogeo in the magnificent island of Ortigia. On request, the tour could be customized in a half-day tour only in Catania including the Museum and a walk in the city center to search for the scars of the war on its palaces, squares and streets.
