Hi all, I would like to give you some information about myself and my work experience. My name is Elisa and I am 35 years old. I am a freelance tourist guide with a professional license for the Region of Sicily. The experience I have gained from my formal studies at high school and then at university ( BA and Masters) and the strong interest I had and continue to have for humanities, helped me to develop an ability to communicate historical, architectonical and archeological knowledge with enthusiasm. Two years abroad (in Germany) and my extensive traveling experiences, have offered me opportunities to adapt to new environments and new cultures. I have learned how important it is to be flexible and make use of my own resources. My work experience over the past 15 years (during which I have planned and managed my time to achieve a good balance between my studies and my work experiences with groups of travelers coming from all over the world, enabled me to develop my leadership skills and increased my awareness of the dynamics of tourism. I definitely love my job and passion makes always the difference! The tour starts from Porta Uzeda, the gateway leading you to the impressive Cathedral square , overlooked by the stunning Duomo and by the symbol of the city: the lava stone elephant named by locals 'liotru'. After the visit of the stunning Duomo, you will enjoy a stroll through the narrow streets where the local colourful outdoor market takes place. Leave the market area and walk through V. Emanuele street to get to the Greek-Roman theatre and the close by ruins of the 2nd century Odeon, so you'll discover the authentic ancient aspect of Catania. But Catania offers much more! Get immersed in the very baroque side of the city walking through the famous via dei Crociferi, a street lined with18th century religious buildings, whose architectural beauty is memorable. From Crociferi street you will easily reach the central shopping street, Via Etnea, to enjoy a nice shopping break while experiencing the lively atmosphere of the city centre. You'll definitely love this tour!
