Hello, I'm Andrea, a native Sicilian born and raised up between the Sicilian saltwater and the Etna Volcano slope. My passion for adventure, hiking, and sportfishing together always pushed me to walk the extra mile, exploring and interpreting lots of hidden spots of the Sicilian territory. Doing this I met a lot of bizarre local people and discovered extraordinary forgotten paths, now part of each itinerary. My Architect and Uban planner background if useful when it comes to design new itineraries and understand the layers of history in our towns! My passion and part of my work is the sportfishing, both from shore and from the boat. I love to take guests to my world sometimes, teaching them, for example, how to fish for octopus barehanded! To guide travelers to discover my island, for me is not just a job, this is the greatest opportunity I got in my life. And luckily for them, I put all my passion for showing the beauty of Sicily!On the other side, this work gives the chance to meet to exchange with beautiful people, turning yourself in another person, day after day. I love this. The eastern side of Sicily is spectacular. A super active volcano that dominates a gulf with dark blue waters, Etna; an epic city with a uniquely charming atmosphere, because of its "layers" still visible underneath and above the ground level, Catania; eternal towns, lived and traveled from millennia, like Taormina, Acitrezza, Siracusa and so on; spectacular surroundings full of nature, traditions, and legends. Overview of your Catania tour
Private guided excursion at sunset (1 to 3 hours maximum walking, based on the group preferences) on Etna south to Etna east, exploring the places of the historical massive eruption of 1669; the 2001 eruption and lots of lesser-known key places on the slope of Etna to understand its volcanology. Include also an interesting visit to the "Valle del Bove", Rifugio Sapienza at 2000m o. s. l, and other places walking the tracks of the "Grand tour travelers". The plus of this excursion are the breathtaking colors of our Volcano at sunset, you'll never forget. It is a trip with many stops. Vertical and horizontal caves full of history, craters of different typology, calderas, destroyed buildings, lava quarries, lava rivers, big eruptions valleys and more. This itinerary will give you a good idea of this volcano is and what it represents for the local people living at "her" feet. Many typical villages will be crossed during this trip, and some stops to taste the town's specialties, are part of the program.
Your Catania tour itinerary
The start is suggested afternoon and depending on the season. - We will visit many spots while hiking such as: 1) Rests of destroyed villages disappeared under meters of lava, after huge eruptions; 2) Volcanic craters, lava tubes, eruption valleys; 3) The highest point on Etna at 2000m o. s. l. Some of them may require up to 1-hour easy hiking, some just a 15min walk and others are just by where we stop. The full driving itinerary is around 70 km long around the volcano, with many changing landscapes to expect. Depending on the season is possible to experience more than 10C° differences from Catania to the highest point on Etna at 2000m o. s. l. - Stop for a typical lunch somewhere or on request typical food and drink can be provided. - It is also possible to stop by some winery or farm to taste local products during the trip. It is a private excursion, so it is possible to tailor-make the trip on the guest's preferences before or during the trip.
