My name is Levi Zelkind, and I was born in Moscow USSR, and from 1985 live in Israel. My love for the history of the Bible Land has driven me all my life, but till 2010 I was dealing primarily with the Hi-Tech business, in Israel and abroad. I have a Master's Degree in Telecommunications from Moscow Technical University, an MBA from Tel Aviv University, and a Post-MBA from INSEAD France. My travels around the World have made me familiar with different cultures and have helped me to gain an understanding and deep respect for their diversity. Every time and again I used to take my business customers and partners visiting Israel to tour around my country. Finally, the decision was ripe, and I started the Tour Guides Program at Beit Berl Educational College. After 2. 5 years of highly intensive studies, I've got my diploma and the Tour Guide Certificate. Additionally to my deep knowledge of Judaism, which also comes from family roots, I've also done intensive studies of Christianity at the Ben Zvi Research Institute. I've further continued my intensive studies, and in 2024 have graduated from Levinsky Educational College, where I've continued my Biblical education, and have got a diploma of the Bibiblical and General History Teacher. This permits me to also teach children of the Mid and High-school ages. This is how I have organized and led guided tours around Israel for the last ten years. My guiding specialization is private individual and family tours around Israel . These tours may continue from one day to two weeks, and they all are fully tuned to my guests' specific needs, abilities and requirements. Indeed, Israel is the Holy Land of the Bible, and therefore, my tours vary from the general history and culture tours to the specific Christian, Jewish, and Muslim ones. I love showing our guests Israel and am happy to create an unforgettable experience for them. That is why I have already twice been honored with the Excellence Award and I am very proud of it because it came from you, from my esteemed clients. And now I'm looking forward to continuing to show our country to the new guests! This is a unique tour into the munificent sites in the Judea Desert - Herodion and Good Samaritan inn. Herodion was built by King Herod as his summer palace, powerful fortress and, finally, as his mausoleum. This huge artificial volcano stands alone between Jerusalem and Bethlehem surrounded by the Judea Desert. And indeed, even today, Herodion is a wonder to behold. Herodion is very well-preserved and include the various halls of the fortress, ritual baths, water cisterns, and even the remains of a first-century synagogue. The Good Samaritan complex is a historic structure in its own right. It consists of the remnants of a road station from the Second Temple period, which was used by pilgrims to Jerusalem coming from Galilee and Gilead. Remains have also been discovered here of an inn from the Byzantine period that served Christian pilgrims. The site got its name in the Byzantine period, when it was identified as the inn mentioned in the New Testament parable of the Good Samaritan.
We shall meet our guests at your Tel Aviv or Jerusalem hotel and shall drive through Jerusalem and across the Palestinian border to herodion, first. We shall explore this huge site, walking the ramparts of the Herod's fortress. We'll enter the the underground water supply system, which is unique by itself. We shall visit the ancient synagogue. Finally, we'll see the remnants of King Herod's mausoleum. From Herodion we'll drive across Jerusalem again, and back to Palestine. We shall take a scenic drive through the Judea Desert, with ts fascinating views. Finally, we'll arrive to the Good Samaritan Inn. This is a place described in jesus's famous Good samaritan Parable, hosts today a unique mosaics museum. These ancient Jewish, Samaritan and Christian mosaics have been collected from multiple site in Judea, Samaria and Gaza, and together they open a veil of the daily life during the Byzantine times.
