Hi, my name is Ray. I am a private Tour Guide, providing private motor tours and walking tours for visitors to Ireland. I have been a tour guide with ToursByLocals since the year 2012 and I have provided in excess of 300 tours for customers of ToursByLocals who have visited Ireland over those years. My wife Mary is also an experienced Tour Guide with ToursByLocals and you can visit her on ToursByLocals where she is listed as Mary W. I live in Killarney, a town in the County of Kerry in the south west of Ireland. Killarney is a lake district and part of Ireland's largest national park. It is home to numerous visitor attractions which include Muckross House & Gardens, Ross Castle, St. Mary's Cathedral, Torc Waterfall, Killarney House and The Gap of Dunloe, to mention a few. Killarney is also considered the gateway to many iconic touring routes such as The Ring of Kerry, The Skellig Ring, The Dingle Peninsula and The Beara Peninsula. I provide day tours and multi day tours to all these locations plus many more. I have lived in Killarney since 1984 having first come to Kerry in 1981 to work as a Policeman. I have served the people of Killarney and Kerry for 31 years as a Police Sergeant and retired in the year 2011. The tours I offer are designed to give the visitor a greater and more wholesome appreciation of Killarney, particular corners and nuggets of County Kerry and throughout the west and south west of Ireland along Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way. My personal interests and pastimes include hill walking, cycling, golfing, reading, travel, music and general outdoor activities. Come and join me on a journey exploring the hidden Ireland and places that will live long in the memory. I am a retired police sergeant with 31 years national service. I am the holder of both a Public Service Vehicle (SPSV) Driver's and a Vehicle Licence. I am licensed to drive as a professional driver throughout Ireland in modern touring van that can accommodate seven passengers plus the driver. I drive professionally and guide throughout Ireland.I am a certified member of The Institute of Advanced Motorists. I am an Irish Heart Foundation appointed Community Walking Leader. I lead and guide a Community Walking Group called "The Silverbacks". I am a former senior coach and under age coach to Killarney Rugby Football Club.I am a member of Killarney Golf & Fishing Club. I am a founder member of The Kerry Garda (Police) Hillwalking Club. I am not restricted access to any historical or heritage sites in Kerry. However, state owned properties such as Muckross House and Ross Castle provide their own guides of the interior of the buildings and you must honour and respect these regulations.

In 1993 a Swiss geology student, Iwan Stossel, discovered "Tetrapod" trackway fossil footprints on rocks on Valentia Island which were formed 385 million years ago. Tetrapod footprints are the oldest evidence in the world of vertebrates walking on land that would eventually become the human form . Such is the appeal of Valentia Island, the most westerly point of the continent of Europe, which is linked to the mainland at Portmagee. During my previous working life as a policeman I spent four years in this area and I have consistently found myself returning to Valentia and I have developed a keen interest and love of the area that draws me back. My intimate knowledge of this part of Ireland allows me to offer you a much more fulfilling experience than other tours offer. This is truly a unique and scenically beautiful location that you should visit in your lifetime.
