I live close to the beautiful town of Killarney. I qualified with a BA(hons) at the National University of Ireland - University College Cork. By studying History and Geography locally, I have lots of extra local knowledge to share with guests on my tours. I completed my masters (MSc) in Dublin, so have also spent time in our capital city. I am married with 2 children, and have 20 years experience in tourism throughout Ireland. I have guided for many world famous tour companies, from student groups to VIP tours. For the last 5 years I have been a tour guide in my local area, and love guiding private tours and ensuring everyone has a great time. The most important thing for me is that everyone who joins my tour has a great time. The great thing about a private tour, is that you can decide how much information and commentary you wish me to share with you, but I am equally happy for us to relax and listen to some great Irish music! I am happy to adapt the tour to reflect your interests and requirements! As we travel together on the tour, I am always happy to make as many stops as you wish, for photos or to just to get out and stretch the legs! This tour is for Cruise Passengers visiting Cork! There is normally time to visit three local destinations during this private tour! The most popular attractions in the area include: *Blarney Castle and Gardens (& famous gift store) *Cork City (guided tour of Ireland's second largest city) *Kinsale (picturesque harbour town with lovely views and quaint streets - lovely for lunch!) *Cork Coastal Drive We will always also do a stop in the historic town of Cobh before we return to the cruise terminal. I will take the scenic routes through the countryside! If you book this tour you will have total flexibility. I can recommend alternative suggestions if you prefer to see hidden gems!
This was a great tour. Michael, our tour guide, got us to the Blarney Castle early so we were able to kiss the Blarney Stone quickly without having to stand in a line. Then we toured the city and had a great lunch in a local pub. It was a gray rainy day, but Michael made the day fun. His vehicle also was nice and roomy and accommodated our group of 7 easily.
Michael W was exceptional! His suggestions regarding timing, stops of interest to us, dining locations etc were spot on. Michael’s knowledge of Cork and its surroundings as to history, development, shopping, sports, whatever we asked was most helpful. We 7 truly enjoyed our day!
Michael was a fantastic guide for our shore excursion in Cork! I loved that he picked us up at the perfect time to get us to the Blarney Castle ahead of all the giant busses and crowds. He directed us to the proper line when we arrived and I was so excited to be the very first person to kiss the Blarney Stone that day without any crowds!!! Next Michael took us around Cork city for a quick highlights tour before we headed to the cute port town of Kinsale for an amazing lunch at Kitty O'Se's which he recommended. Once again we got there way before any other tours. Michael was so professional, communicated with us through WhatsApp during our visits and he was a wealth of knowledge. I would definitely recommend him for your tour!
Cork Shore Excursion with Michael Walsh. Michael greeted us at the dock and took us on a wonderful tour of the Blarney Castle, Kinsale town for lunch and a stop in the historical town of Cobh with other stops along the way. We were able to walk around at our own pace and Michael showed us our first look at beautiful Ireland. There were 6 adults, and it was very nice that he had a headset which made it easy for all of us "older hearing impaired" to enjoy his stories.
Michael was very knowledgeable and he was great fun he had us singing Irish drinking songs on the way back to the ship
Michael was an excellent guide, gave us enough info with some stories to make it interesting but not too much to make it boring. He also went out of his way to ensure everyone in our group was accomodated and cared for. Would highly recommend a tour with Michael.

Free-time in this vibrant city! 1pm-3pm: Lunch in the pretty coastal town of Kinsale! 4pm: Visit to Cobh. This historic town is famed as an emigration port. Visit the famous Cathdral or the Titanic exhibition. 5pm: Return to Cruise Ship. THIS IS A SAMPLE ITINERARY! TIMINGS WILL VARY DEPENDING ON SHIP ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE TIMES! Some clients may prefer to visit Jameson Experience Midleton rather than one of the stops listed!
