Darjeeling was part of Sikkim Kingdom and later in 1835 it was gifted to British East India Company during that time Kolkata was the capital of India and what East India Company did they made Darjeeling as a summer capital. They started planning town, brought tea industry , schools , sanatorium and Darjeeling himalayan railway (UNESCO World Heritage ) . Darjeeling "The Queen of the Hills" is one of the famous hill station in India famous for tea, mesmerizing view of great Himalayas and it's vibrant gorkha, lepcha and bhutia culture. Let me show you my city that is beloved for its diverse ethnic cultures and scenic beauty, a city that is world-famous for the cultivation of premium teas and beautiful views of the Kanchenjunga mountain range, experience a unique ride on a toy train that has been declared a UN heritage site, Welcome to my Darjeeling a "Queen of the Hills"! Walk this colonial summer capital and experiencing its heritage and legacy with locals.
Walking city tour 8:30 AM We will take a walk to Mahakal Temple which is one of the oldest temple in Darjeeling and unique thing about this temple is you will find Hindu priest and Buddhist priest sitting together and worshipping same deities. 9:30-11:30AM We will walk around darjeeling town explore old market area and see day to day life of people. 11:30AM-12:30PM We will visit Darjeeling Himalayan Railway station which is a UNESCO world heritage site and see how old steam engines still function and after that we will visit Dhirdham Temple . 12:45 PM 1:45PM Lunch break (Lunch is included) 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM We will be visiting Bhutia Busty monastery which is one of the oldest Tibetan Buddhist monastery and Tibetan Refugee Centre (Tibetan cottage Industry) Later at evening we will take a walk around Mall road and see the panoramic view of Himalayas with sunset. This itinerary is completely flexible if you want to make any changes please let me know .
