My name is Margarita, I'm a Patmian and a licenced tourist guide (which means I'm qualified to guide in all sites, historical monuments included). I'm also an actor, having studied in Athens and Dublin, and my drama skills help bring storytelling to life. I would love to tell you about the most famous book ever written on "the end of the world", about everyday life in a medieval castle- monastery and of pirates who roamed the Aegean, as we meander in a village which hasn't changed in 200 years. Have I mentioned it's a UNESCO site? I am passionate about my island's unique history, it's rich traditions and hidden beauties. From the important theological message of The Book of Revelation and the architectural secrets of our most photographed sites , to the best of our local pastries and wines I can help you get the most out of your visit to Patmos. Have you hired a car for your stay on the island? Then I shall join you. Alternatively I can organise a vehicle and driver for 2- 40 people. -Successfully completed Fáilte Ireland Dublin City & Environs Tourist Guide Course, Dublin, Ireland. -Graduate of "Kazakos" Acting School, Athens, Greece. -Graduate of National Tourist Guide School, Rhodes, Greece. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

Overview of your Patmos tour

Want to see the highlights and get to know the rest of the island a bit better? This tour includes all the essentials and a scenic drive: The Cave of the Apocalypse where we believe the Book of Revelation was written, the 11th century Monastery of St. John with its awe inspiring museum. A walk in the cobbled streets of Chora and a visit to the oldest traditional house of the island. On our drive back will pass from the award winning windmills, the oldest chapel on the island and the picturesque settlement of Grikos. Great photo stops along the way, stories of legends, pirates, Orthodox monasticism and some gossip on the wealthy patrons!

If you are visiting Patmos, do yourself a favor and book a tour with Margarita — you will not regret it! We joined her half-day tour covering St. John’s Cave, the monastery, and a local village, and it was hands-down the best guided tour experience we have ever had. Margarita’s knowledge is extraordinary — she seamlessly wove together ancient mythology, rich historical context, and biblical insight in a way that brought the island to life like nothing else could. Beyond her expertise, Margarita is warm, friendly, and genuinely easy to talk with. She has a wonderful gift for making every person in the group feel comfortable and engaged from start to finish. Margarita was wonderful! She is so knowledgeable and presented all of the information in a historical way instead of in a proselytizing, preachy way which we really appreciated.

Margarita was AMAZING! Delightful, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. She has a PhD level of information yet delivered it in a spellbinding and very memorable way. She is a superstar and was our absolute favorite guide with Tours By Locals to date. Highest possible recommendation, wish we could take her with us for the remainder of our cruise vacation. Patmos now very high on our list of destinations and mostly because of Margarita. 5 Stars is too low a rating, 10 plus stars by us. Thank you for making this a day we’ll never forget.🙏🙏

Margarita G. was incredible! We had special request that she when above and beyond to help. Wedding Vows renewal. One of the best guides we’ve experienced in our travels. The Holy Cave of the Apocalypse was incredible (Holy Spirit) her knowledge of the Grotto, Monastery and museum was extensive. We also walked through the village and visited an off the path Turkish bath that St John baptized the local villagers while exiled. 2000+ yrs old. I highly recommend her to all Christians visiting Patmos and others that would like to learn about St John etc…Thanks again Margarita for our Patmos Experience!!!

We are a group of six adults from Dallas Texas who had never visited Greece. Each day I booked a private Tours By Locals for each island. Margarita was our tour guide and we liked her the moment we met her. She truly is the perfect guide and we learned SO much during our tour of Patmos. Her wealth of knowledge is just incredible. It is a wonderful tour that we HIGHLY recommend. Thank you for our tour, we loved it!

Touring sites with Margarita and her minivan driver was an awesome experience! She is such a wealth of knowledge. Very personable, thoughtful and accommodating. The best Patmos tour experience for our small group of three Spelmanite and one Jackson State University Alum 👍🏽. Thank you helping us get through this bucket list trip of a lifetime.

Your Patmos tour itinerary

A short drive to the grotto of the Apocalypse. Learn about one of the most influential books in religious literature and walk in the steps of St. John. We continue on to the village of Chora. It is here that we visit the 11th century Monastery of St. John the Theologian, an imposing 900 years old structure, still active today. The treasury, which is the museum of the Monastery, displays a breathtaking collection, including a manuscript dating to the early 6th century. We explore the narrow alleys of Chora to visit the oldest mansion on the island which will offer us the opportunity to see the interior of a traditional Patmian house along with artifacts collected by 14 generations of the same family. Get the local's perspective on everyday life on the holy island on our return, as we explore the southern part of the island. We pass from our windmills, one of the oldest chapels -which is believed to be the site of St. John's baptistry- and the beautiful bay of Grikos.
